Pictorial Tour  of our Table Construction

Step One

The design for our table comes from a furniture book which was purchased at Hastings.  The title of the book is Two by Four Furniture: Simple, Inexpensive and Great-Looking Projects You Can Make by Stevie Henderson.

Step One:

    A.  After delivery of our wood, we stacked the wood in the school's woodshop.

    B.  Students from the woodshop class cut our wood using the specified measurements and quantities.

    C.  Before we carried the wood from the woodshop, each piece was labeled either A, B, C, or D.

    D.  The four different pieces were sorted and stacked in our classroom.

    E.  To eliminate the four inside screws connecting pieces A and B, we decided to replace them with    four 1/2" dial rods.

    F.  Several 4 ft. dial rods were purchased to begin this section.  Each length was placed on the floor and measured every two inches.

    G.  Once marked, each rod was cut into lengths of two inches.

    H. Using a card stencil, pieces A and B were marked to indicated 1/2" drill mark.

    I.  We carried our wood from place to place

    J.  Teachers drilled the holes for our dial rods.

    K.  We then inserted the dial rods and used wood glue to piece together the two end frames.

    L.  We then placed four - 3 1/2" screws at right angles at the corner of each table end.
