Summary: Since September 99, several schools including Celeste, Cumby, Greenville, Quinlan, and Wills Point, have met together to spend quality time learning from one another. Recently, Bonham, Sulphur Springs, Princeton, North Hopkins have joined our monthly activities. The lessons and activities are always engaging and stimulating for the students. Meeting together as an educational team allows our students unique opportunities to learn from others and broaden the horizons of all involved. Focus: Students attending the monthly activity spend quality time interacting with others, learning to share, broadening their perception of others around them, conversational improvement, helping others, teamwork, and following directions. A large group setting, as this opportunity provides, gives each student a unique and meaningful - learning experience. Intent: Together, we offer to the students a diverse and meaningful learning experience. Each person looks forward to meeting their friend(s) from other schools (trust me on this one). Successful networking between school districts enables large group projects of this nature. Inclusion: With the cooperation of the Greenville administration and instructional staff, general education students have been afforded the opportunity to participate during our monthly activities. When traveling to distant schools, three to four general education students accompany our class to provide additional supervision, quality leadership, and opportunities for social development. Each student learns to except individuals different from themselves. |
