COUNTRY CLUB SKEET LEAGUE

February 6th, 2010

There were a total of 71 shooters today.  The temperature was in the mid 20's, which translated to cold and windy.  The sun came out around noon and stayed out the rest of the day.

It turned out to be a real slug fest between Glen Oak, St. Charles, and Oak Park.  While Glen Oak  took an early lead, St. Charles and Oak Park tied them in the early afternoon.  The last squad of the day enabled Oak Park to take the lead.

Julian Mizgala, a D Class shooter, led the Oak Park team to a first place finish with a net 49 1/2.  He was followed by Rick Chandra and Kevin Price, Jr.  Kevin was on the final squad and after his score was posted, Oak Park was no longer tied for 1st place; they were in 1st place with a 1/2 point lead for the day.  Ben Ver Halen and Mike Yungerman rounded out their team.  This club is a force to be reckoned with.  They are young and aggressive and love to shoot.  A quote from the movie, Die Hard comes to mind, "Welcome to the party pal!"  .

Pat Bartel led the Glen Oak team to a 2nd place tie finish followed by Artie Tessmann, Mark Gadbois, Al Forst and Tim Ivers

Mike Skratsky and Jerry Reynolds from St. Charles shot the only perfect 50's for the day; a remarkable feat considering the wind today.  The dynamic duo was followed by a whole bunch of other shooters enabling them to also tie for 2nd place for the day.  Among them were Jim Gilman, Clem Martin, Pat Casey, Drew Chenelle and Nate Hancock.

Medinah should have had home field advantage but couldn't capitalize on it.  They were led by Brad Klune who was followed by John Kostelny.  Several other shooters posted 46's for the day; Joe Gattone, Jr., Tom Miller, Gary Nottleman, Ryan Stewart, Byron Udell, and Dan Zecca.

Because the worst shoot drops off, at the end of shoot 5, Glen Oak has increased their lead to 10 1/2 birds.  St. Charles is in 2nd place followed by Oak Park in 3rd and Medinah in 4th.

The Loot Shoot format will be a 50 bird event and will start a little later at 10:00.  The auction will be changed to a shooter's pool.  A complimentary lunch will be provided and we will have a rib fest that evening for all shooters and spouses.  The dinner will be complimentary for the shooter.  Spouses will be charged extra.  I think it will be a great time.  A copy of the flyer for the Loot Shoot is attached to the web site.  Please look at it.  We will start signing up people for this at the next shoot.

Please note that the next shoot will be at Glen Oak with St. Charles hosting in 2 weeks on February 20th.  Mark your calendar.  We'll see you there.

Sincerely,
