Due to circumstances beyond our control, our Friday Night Dance, Spaghetti Dinner and 9th Birthday Party has been canceled.
The Extreme Country Dance Club was formed in 1998 in Charleston, WV and held it's first dance on July 10, 1998. The Club has continued to grow and thrive with more than 100 current members. We have dancers of all age groups and dance to popular music from all genres. The Club currently offers 4 dance class sessions every Friday night:
A Basic Beginner Line Dance Class, taught by Marilyn Little. This class offers beginner level dances that are great for learning the basic steps used in line dancing to get you started on the dance floor. This class is for the person who has never line danced before.
An Advanced Beginner Line Dance Class, taught by Louise Tugwell. This class offers more advanced beginner dances and introduces some low intermediate level dances to get you moving.
An Intermediate Line Dance Class, taught by Becky Stone. This class offers more complex dances for the experienced dancer to really get you moving on the dance floor.
A Couples (Patterned Partner) Dance Class. This class is taught by Sally and Ron Carson. This class offers patterned partner dances for couples.
Dance classes are held every Friday night with the beginner line dance Class, the advanced beginner line dance class and the intermediate line dance class beginning at 6:30 in different rooms. The couples (patterned partner) class begins at 7:30 in the gym. The Open Dance starts at 8:00 in the gym. Admission is $5.00 for non-members and $3.00 for club members.
The general Open Dance Format is to alternate between line dances and couple dances, so that everyone gets an opportunity to dance.
Come and enjoy an evening of fun for all ages in a smoke-free, alcohol-free and family friendly environment. Line dancing is an excellent and fun way to exercise and stimulate both body and mind.
In addition to the health benefits, the Extreme Country Dance Club enjoys a great deal of extra-curricular activities. We enjoy monthly birthday parties to recognize members birthdays, "pot luck" dinners to celebrate most major holidays, and a few "snack nights" thrown in for good measure! Our club members also participate in various fund-raising events during the Spring and Summer months to help offset the expenses involved in running the club.
Several times during the year, Club Members host Workshops with locally and nationally known choreographers and participate in workshops and dances hosted by other dance groups, both in West Virginia and in other states. Please check back for the most current upcoming events.
The Elk Elementary Center is located 1.2 miles off I-79 on Route 119 North. Take Exit No. 1 (the Mink Shoals Exit off I-79) turn right at the end of the exit ramp and travel north 1.2. miles. Near where you will want to turn off of 119 you will see a lighted RC Cola sign on your right and just a few hundred yards later you will turn right at the sign along the highway that says "Extreme Country Dance Club." (There is also a sign that says Elk Elementary.) Go down the incline and take the first left where there is another sign that says "Extreme Country Dance Club". Travel a few hundred yards along the paved road and you will come to a red brick building, which is the Elk Elementary Center. Tons of free parking is available. Become a member and save on admission. Membership fees are $35.00 per family and $20 per individual.
