Loco 106 - Toowoomba bred
Built at the Toowoomba Foundry in 1915 and was one of 15 Locos built for Queensland Rail to it?s C16 requirements. The C16 was designed in 1903 as an improved 4.8-0 loco built by various firms. By 1918 there were 152 C16?s in service with Queensland Rail.

Sheep Wagons Arrive
10th March 2002
Well it's all coming together well now, our first 2 Sheep Wagons arrived Sunday 10th March at our Goggs St Shed,which will be our home for six months until our Drayton land in fenced and ready to take our rolling stock.

Public Meeting, 5 December 2001

A public meeting hosted by the Darling Downs Historical Society on Wednesday has be judged a great success, attracting 50 people and featured an inspiring talk from Robert Ketton of USQ on the potential for steam train trips to take people on a fantasy trip to a time when life had simple pleasures.

Workers needed
11th December 2001
George Lucas presented a list of some of the people we will need to complete this project to the Public Meeting on 5 December 2001. The list includes 12 Carpenters, 11 Upholsterers, 10 Wood Fabricators, 9 Cabinet Makers, 8 Engine Drivers, 7 Painters, 6 Boilermakers, 5 Fitters And Turners, 4 Metal Fabricators, 3 Plumbers, 2 Electricians and a government man with a couple of million dollars

Drayton Sidings Update
15th November 2001
The Darling Downs Historical Society is continuing to work towards an agreement with Queensland Rail for the Use of Drayton Siding as a carriage restoration site and home base. George Lucas, who is leading the negotiations for the DDHRS reports that at last there is some positive news.

Loco 106 arrives on the Downs
26th October 2001
After nearly a year of toil by the Darling Downs Historical Society (and a decade of work by John Peel) Loco 106 returned to Toowoomba on Friday 26 October 2001. Loco 106 was on show near the Toowoomba Railway Station, as part of the Federation Street Party. Now she is in Pittsworth to be restored and will be seen back on the Rails here in he next few years.

Train Drivers Breakfast
March 2002
The Train Drivers Breakfast was a great success with over 150 guests testing the resourcefulness of organisers and workers. Special guests included Stuart Copeland, Member for Cunningham, and Toowoomba Mayor Di Thorley. The morning featured a delicious cooked breakfast, great music and competitions.

 
Dismantling Loco 106
April 2002
Lionel Moore, Neil and Ken Greisbach took the first step of dismantling Loco 106, removing the cowcatcher, buffers and cylinder head. To their delight the cylinder looks in great condition and looks as if it could work if steam was added now. Once Volunteer Supervisors are in place workdays will be organised, probably late May.
