** The Sharing Tree **
Sometimes we have something our whole life, something that is meaningful to us or those who came before us. Other things come and go in our lives, they serve their purpose and leave. The Sharing Tree is a place to let go of those things that need to move on.
Before you come to Mountain Meet meditate on your possessions. See if there is something which has served its purpose or time in your life, and is ready to move on its own journey. The item should be something of value to you and of value to someone else. We ask that you not go purchase something just for this, although if you have something you bought which does not fit your life and needs to find a new owner, that's a good thing to bring.
What kinds of things could come to find a new owner? Perhaps it is a robe, ritual wear, a piece of jewelry, a statue, oils, an alter piece, artwork, a rock or crystal, athame, book, etc. It doesn't have to be expensive, just something that has meaning or which would be treasured by someone else...
(Please! No food stuffs...we don't want to share with bears or
other critters!!!!)
All who want to participate will obtain a paper sack and piece of string from RoseWynde. In a private place, you will place your item in your sack and tie it shut. This is not the trade table, no one should know what you are giving and you won't know what you are receiving in return.
If you discover more than one thing that you would like to Share, put each in their own sack and you may receive a sack for each during the sharing.
The Sharing Tree will be located near the main camp area and you will tie your sack to a lower branch yourself. We hope that all who are participating will visit the tree on their own and sense if a certain sack "calls" to them.
Persons not able to attend Mn Mt who would like to Share & Receive, may send their item in a stapled or taped shut sack with someone who is coming. That person will be entrusted to bring you back a different closed sack.
Sharing and receiving a sack will take place on Saturday evening around 6:00 pm.
If on Saturday evening, people feel called to the same sack, then lots will be drawn by all who have brought something to the tree. Your lot will tell you what order to go and select a sack containing the new item coming into your life. On the chance that you and someone else receive something that you would like to trade, that is private between them and you.
We hope that the Sharing Tree becomes a new Mountain Meet Tradition and that the items leaving and coming into your life enhance your journey, bringing some happiness.
