Lee Kernaghan

Lee Kernaghan is one of Australia's best known and loved country music stars. He is from a country music family as his father, Ray, and his sister, Tania, are also singers.

Since the release of his ground-breaking Outback Club album and signature tune Boys From The Bush in 1992, Lee has been at the forefront of country music in Australia. He has released five top selling albums, toured Australia extensively and raised hundreds of thousands of dollars for worthy causes.

In 1982, he won the prestigious Star Maker Quest, but it was to be another 10 years before he found his "niche" (and stardom) in country music. "The Outback Club" is as strong today as it was then... it has even lent its name to a nationally-syndicated country music radio show hosted by Colin Buchanan, featuring Lee from time to time.

In January 1993, Lee took Tamworth and the Golden Guitar Awards by storm winning Song of the Year for Boys From The Bush (with co-writer, producer and mentor Garth Porter), Male Vocalist of the Year and Album of the Year for his debut release.

He had won a total of 17 Golden Guitars at the Australian Country Music Awards. This year, 2002, he was inducted into Australia's Country Music's Hall of Fame and he won another Golden Guitar in conjunction with Josh Arnold doing an Australian version of "Thank God I'm A Country Boy". This has brought his total to 18 making him the equal second highest award winning singer of all time.
