WAYZ Summerfest
Red Run Park
Waynesboro, PA
August 2002
The show started out well with some local talent. We had a long intermission because Marcel had
gotten lost in York and was on the way.
After holding out for quite a while, the show proceeded with Pinmonkey
performing first. They are known for their first single "Barbwire and
Roses". They performed about a half hour set, which consisted of mainly
bluegrass music. They have a very traditional sound, but that is what
showcases their musical abilities.
Mercury artist Marcel was up next. He
is another fairly new artist, receiving some airplay with the song
"Country Rockstar". A majority of his fan base seemed to be quite young, though he was
entertaining.
The show then picked up with Joe Nichols.
The crowd was very enthusiastic to hear his hit song "The Impossible".
He proved worthy of the crowds applause.
Brad Martin came on next and
performed a decent set. He performs much more slow, mellow music which
quieted the crowd down. They did appreciate his performance of his
single "Before I Knew Better".
Tammy Cochran was up before the main act.
She is very comfortable onstage. She joked around between songs, getting
a feel for the audience. Her set included "So What", "If You Can", "I
Cried" and her new single "Life Happened".
The main act was no other than Chris Cagle. The whole show built up to the moment he took the
stage. He sang almost every song off his debut cd. The crowd was full of
"Cagleheads", Chris' fans. They stood and sang and put a huge smile on
his face. When the crowds were annoyed by the standing fans, Chris told
them all to get up and enjoy the show, and that they did.
All performances were very good, and every artist stayed and signed after
their shows. It was definitely a entertainment packed show!
