The Employee

I have been an employee at Westside Lexus for eight fabulous years!  I started as the Mechanical Technician’s Assistant for the mechanical technician in the collision center during my senior year of high school.  At the young age of 20, I took over the Mechanical Shop in the Westside Lexus Collision Center as the Lead Mechanical Technician.  I learned a lot about being a leader during the four years that I ran the mechanical shop, but I probably learned them the way that nobody would want to; by experience.  I currently still work at the dealership, but I have transferred to the Service Department.

I am still a Service Technician, but I look forward to moving within the Service Department as a Service Advisor.  I would like the opportunity as a Service Advisor because as a technician I do not have the opportunity to interact with the customers as much as I would like.  From Service, I intend to move to the Sales Department, and then later earn a position as General Sales Manager, move on to being the General Manager of the dealership, and eventually I would love to have a Lexus or Toyota dealership of my own one day.

The Student

I graduated from Stratford High School in Houston, TX, and then I went immediately to school at San Jacinto College Central in Pasadena, TX.  At San Jacinto College, I enrolled in the Automotive Technology program and graduated with an Associate of Applied Science in Automotive Technology.  I graduated through the Toyota program at San Jacinto College, which is known as T-TEN.  T-TEN stands for Toyota Technical Education Network.  In 2005, I started to go back to school at Houston Community College when I was tired of hearing about how some my friends’ managers were poor examples of leaders.  During that time I also saw a magnet with a quote from Mahatma Gandhi, “Be the change that you wish to see in the world.”  I was inspired.  I want to be a great manager and a leader as well.

I now attend school at The University of Houston.  I will receive my Bachelor of Science in Technology Leadership and Supervision from the College of Technology in December of 2007.  That is only if I can have the time and discipline to finish my last six classes all in the fall semester of 2007.  After graduation, I plan to continue working at Westside Lexus, and I also plan on enrolling in graduate school in pursuit of a MBA in Finance.

The Personal Side

On my down time I enjoy hanging out with my friends.  I also enjoy jogging.  When I have time on my hands it is not unusual at all to hear of me jogging 15, or more, miles a week.  Jogging gives me personal time where I am able to relax, as well as think about things that are taking place throughout my life.  I love spending time with all of my sisters, brother-in-laws, nieces, nephews, my mother, and my father.  Unfortunately, I do not spend as much time with them as I would like because I have found myself to be busy with work and school lately.  I know that’s not a sound excuse, so I’ll work on that.  Either this, or next summer, I plan on taking on the sport of kayaking.  I enjoy all kinds of music and I am also open to listening to something new.  I also enjoy drinking beer with my friends, and always enjoy tasting a newly discovered beer.
