Midnight Warriors#7 BANNED FROM MYSPACE !?!?!
Mood:  not sure
Topic: News

I have to say I am Completely Shocked that MySpace has banned the cover to Midnight Warriors#7 from our profile there.  I posted it a few days ago and made it the main picture of the account to showcase the latest issue of Midnight Warriors: Revisited and it was removed within just a few days for INDECENCY !?  They claimed it contained "nude/sexually explicit" content in conjunction with "violence", and that our page there could be deleted if I continue to break their rules and post such things.

I think they are making an assumption based on the cover that the issue involves the act of rape, when it is incredibly clear on the interior that it does not.  I have to say I am very surprised at this, and it means that the cover will be absent from those featured on MySpace.  I can likely post a censored version of the cover on MySpace and they should allow it, so that it is at least represented there, but it is sad that they would take this picture down when I happen to know for a fact that there are countless offensive images on MySpace they could make equal assumptions about.  Going on the "rape assumption" that at least explains why they are fine with the cover to Midnight Warriors#8 on which every character besides Marrina is practically naked on top of eachother!!

If you want to check out the cover to Midnight Warriors: Revisited#7 you can view it in the Online Store.  The issue is in stock, and while it doesn't contain any incident of rape it does introduce us to ring wielders Anna Marie & Krudd, plus an all-new back-up story drawn by cover artist Stephen Holcomb II which serves as a prequel introduction to Marrina, leading into Midnight Warriors#8!

Divine Authority at Toronto Comicon FAE
Mood:  rushed
Topic: News

Divine Authority Comics will be appearing in Artist Alley at the Toronto Comicon Fan Appreciation Event at the Toronto Metro Convention Center on April 18th & 19th.  The convention is two days only, a convenient Saturday & Sunday, with admission costs greatly reduced.  It hasn't been posted on their site, but I beleive they told me just $20 for a 2-day pass.  Their website is: http://hobbystar.com/upcomingevents/torontocomicon2009fae.html.  They should be posting updates soon as the convention is quickly approaching.  They have a partial guest list posted, in addition to some specs about the con.

Mark McCracken, Tina Olah, and Jim Sullivan will be running our table at the Toronto Comicon FAE, and we will have all of the items from our Online Store available at the table for you to check out.  We'll also have posters and promo books to give away, so if you live in the Toronto area be sure to stop by our table!!

Divine Authority Presents#2 & corrected Midnight Warriors Annual#1 Available Now!
Mood:  celebratory
Topic: Announcements

Divine Authority Presents#2 has been added to our online store.  The second issue of our compilation book features a "Penumbra" cover drawn by John Sowder and colored by Sally Slade.  The interior features the second chapter of "Penumbra", as well as the second chapter of "Ray In Hell", and the conclusion to "United Soldier: Child's Play".  "Ray In Hell" features artwork by Luis Chichon and "United Soldier" features artwork by Oliver Villar, both are written by Mark McCracken.  "Penumbra" is written & drawn by John Sowder.  We are aiming to have this book out Quarterly, so the following issue should be released right around the corner!

Midnight Warriors Annual#1 is also now available in it's corrected form.  The previously printed copies had a 2-page spread appearing on two separate pages instead of side by side.  All of the Misprints have been sold, so from here on out only the corrected copies are available.

Divine Authority Presents#1 Available Now!!
Topic: Announcements

I have now added Divine Authority Presents#1 to the online store.  I've been buzzing about this project for over a year, and am currently working on several subsequent issues of the series.  It is our first attempt at a compilation book in the vein of Marvel Comics Presents and DHP, featuring several short stories per issue, some self-contained and some continuing issue-to-issue.  The first issue is over-size, 48 pages, featuring 4 All-New stories in addition to a bonus reprint of the first "United Soldier"/Kimberly Sakahari story originally printed in the back of -Girl!#4.

The All-New stories include: "Penumbra" Chapter One, written & drawn by John Sowder.  "United Soldier: Child's Play Part 1" written by myself & drawn by Oliver Villar.  "Ray In Hell: Chapter I" written by myself & drawn by Enrico Zanoletti.  "Breezy" written by myself and drawn by Marcelo Salaza and inked by Marcia Casaqueviti.  And a massive Wraparound Cover drawn by Jim Sullivan and colored by Virginie Menard.

I strongly suggest checking this book out, and I am very much looking forward to hearing reader opinions on which stories they favor and which other characters they would like to see appearing in short stories in the book.  In upcoming issues I already have stories in-progress for Selena, CaTaStRoPhE, and -Girl!, in addition to the introduction of an All-New series of stories titled "Spyne".  Stay Tuned!

-Girl! TPB Online Price Reduction!
Topic: Announcements

When updating the Online Store, I noticed that the -Girl! TPB was listed for $6.95.  I have reduced it another dollar to $5.95.  We have been selling it at conventions for $6.00, and I hadn't realized it was listed at a higher price online.

-Girl!: "Out with the Old, In with the Neurotic" TPB contains #1-4, featuring the introduction of all of the main characters of the series.  We never reprinted these individually only because the original issues had immense differences in page count and content.  If you enjoy the series, be sure to check out the two self-contained issues (#5/ The Destiny of -Girl!  &  #6/The Target's On -Girl!) released in 2008 which are also available in the online store!

Midnight Warriors Annual#1 Available Now!
Topic: Announcements

While I haven't had much free time to work on the website lately, I have continued to work on the books themselves.  I'm performing a few updates today, and hope to have a few more announcements in the near future for more upcoming books we will have available at conventions in 2009!

Midnight Warriors Annual#1 is now available in the online store.  The copies I have on-hand at the moment are Misprint Copies.  This is only the second time we have had a Misprint (MW:R#1 was once printed with an upside-down page!).  The Misprint in the Annual is a Full Bleed that was shifted onto two separate pages instead of appearing side-by-side.  It is later in the book, when a curtain is opened to reveal Ray chained to a wall.  I am currently ordering more copies from the printer and those will be corrected versions.  The Misprints are signed & numbered, only 15 exist, and right now only a few are left.  I will post an update when the corrected version is available!

The Midnight Warriors Annual features an over-size core story of 35 pages, in addition to a Pin-Up gallery featuring Divine Authority characters in Halloween costumes or atmosphere, from a variety of artists.  The story is self-contained, easy to understand without having read any other issue of Midnight Warriors.  For those following continuity it takes place between Midnight Warriors#11 & 12.

Midnight Warriors Annual#1 Update / Halloween
Topic: Announcements

Now that Halloween has come and gone, the main page has been updated once again.  This time I went with a New Years theme, celebrating what's to come in 2009.  In the process, though, I removed the only pic of the Midnight Warriors Annual on-site...  I expect the book to be back from the printer by month's end and as soon as it is available it will be added to the online store.  In the meantime, the cover is still posted as the main picture on our MySpace page, which is accessible from the button on the home page, or use this direct link: www.myspace.com/divine_authority.

Divine Authority Presents#1 is the next book headed to the printer's, check back for that cover to be posted on-site in the near future!

Midnight Warriors Annual#1 Cover
Mood:  a-ok
Topic: Announcements

The cover to Midnight Warriors Annual#1 is now posted on the main page.  It was drawn by John Sowder and colored by Jeremy Colwell.  I am hoping to have this book in-hand within a few weeks and will add it to the online store as soon as I have it.  It totalled out to 48 interior pages, and though we have it priced at $4.95 on the cover for retail purposes, we will be selling it for $3.95 online and at conventions.  Happy Halloween!

Halloween Main Page!
Mood:  energetic
Topic: Announcements

If you are on this blog then you probably already noticed the big changes on the main page on your way here!  In celebration of Halloween and the upcoming Midnight Warriors Annual#1, which is our first Halloween issue, I decided to junk the majority of the page and put up a slide show of the pin-up gallery that will be appearing in the book.  So far it has had favorable reviews, and thankfully doesn't seem to make the page loading time any slower.  This was the first time I'd used a slideshow through Photobucket.com.

I am working on updates behind-the-scenes in hopes to get the bugs out of them before adding them to the website all-at-once.  I am considering re-designing the homepage or at least sprucing it up when it goes back to normal, so I am thinking of putting up another thematic main page after Halloween to give me more time to work on the updates.  If you have thoughts or ideas on this, feel free to post, as this is an open blog.

     Happy Halloween!
