Steev: hi, i'm
steev... who are you and what the hell do you do exactly?
Bluebird Sludge: My real name is Tom, but I go by the name Bluebird Sludge.
I figure I can express the way I feel through music. You don't exactly need
words all the time to show how you feel.
Steev: so how exactly would you describe your music
to the 5-10 people interested?
Bluebird Sludge: I'd call it Hip Hop, Industrial, Ambient, Experimental masterpieces
Bluebird Sludge: I am having a identity crisis and I can't figure out whta
to do anymore.
Steev: so for the people that don't know.. you used
to go by the name tree the realest and released a few hip hop albums... what
made you sway away from that scene?
Bluebird Sludge: Because the scene is trash. Hip Hop has gone money, cash,
hoes, on me. I just can't relate to that stuff. If you don't follow the requirements
in hip hop, nobody is going to like you. I never followed the rules and made
classic hip hop emo gems that hardly anybody appriciated.
Steev: i hear you on that. there is rarely a rip hop
act nowadays that strike my fancy. i dig your tree shit and of course defjux
puts out quality stuff, but that's about it..
Bluebird Sludge: yeah EL-P has some great production
Steev: so what made you want to be a part of the broke
ass label known as x died enroute y?
Bluebird Sludge: because it obviously supports creative music.
Bluebird Sludge: Only open minded people would dare listen to anything on
that label.
Bluebird Sludge: or deaf people.
Steev: i also hear the founder has a big wang.
Bluebird Sludge: he does.
Bluebird Sludge: :-X
Steev: so what do you wish to accomplish with your bluebird
sludge shit?
Steev: do you see any certain direction you're going with it?
Bluebird Sludge: well, I would love to have people going around blasting bluebird
sludge out of their jeeps..but that probably won't happen. I just hope some
people can appriciate what I'm doing.
Steev: would you drop kick a midget if he said it was
alright?
Bluebird Sludge: I don't know. I'd have to be in that situation. Good question.
Bluebird Sludge: I'd probably hurt myself trying to dropkick..more than he
would get hurt being kicked.
Steev: yea, that's always a possibility.
Steev: what if he was ugly?
Bluebird Sludge: If he was ugly. I probably wouldn't, because I used to be
ugly..and I support ugly people.
Steev: i respect that.
Bluebird Sludge: and now with Bluebird Sludge...i can pull in all the honeys
Bluebird Sludge: cuz I am a rock star
Steev: yea, cuz smashed up bluebirds are mad hot.
Steev: how many tracks are going to be on the album and what should kids expect?
Bluebird Sludge: 16 tracks. All instrumental..except 2, which do have vocals,
done by me.
CielingFanDancin: will there be any tree influenced tracks on the album?
Bluebird Sludge: yeah the song 4 U [Hyperactive Mix]..is a mix of the instrumental
I used for that song. A few songs were actually on T.r.E.E. albums, and some
were actually just too weird to be rapped over, and a few made it to the bluebird
sludge album.
Steev: sounds sexy.
Steev: rumor on the street is you have a fetish for chaldeon amputee porn?
Bluebird Sludge: nah. I have a small thing for asian porn that I need to get
over..because asian chicks are evil.
Steev: everyone has atleast a small thing for asian
porn.
Steev: i think the world collectively feels your pain and boner..
Steev: why evil though?
Bluebird Sludge: I hate koreans. They smell and are seriously satan's spawn
Steev: haha.
Steev: i'm good friends with a korean chick.
Steev: she showers as far as i know.
Bluebird Sludge: so am I. My best female friend is half-korean
Bluebird Sludge: I love her to death, but I hate her korean half.
Steev: any certain reason? besides the smelling satan
thing?
Bluebird Sludge: it's a long story that dates back to when I was in 9th grade
Steev: ah, i see.. i understand. i know kids that were
molested by janitors too.. moving on... what instruments do you use to make
your shit?
Bluebird Sludge: This korean kid name SANG moved into our neighborhood straight
from Korea. Me and my friend played basketball with him and taught him american
slang. For some reason he didn't like me. One day when we were all playing
basketball he threw the ball at my face.
Steev: ah damn.
Steev: bastard.
Bluebird Sludge: I retaliated and punched him. Turns out he was offending
because when I missed the SHOTS at basketball and said "SHIT" he
thought i was calling him "SHIT"
Bluebird Sludge: then let's just say I've meet atleast 6 other koreans since
then
Bluebird Sludge: there are stories behind all of them. They all sucked and
2 of them smelled horrid.
Bluebird Sludge: I've never meet a good korean yet. So I hate them until one
proves me otherwise.
Steev: well i think you may have just started a small
korean backlash against your music.
Bluebird Sludge: yeah there goes all my korean fans
Bluebird Sludge: I love the japanese, chinese, vietnamese, all those nese
people.
Steev: good to know
Bluebird Sludge: i do all my stuff on computer.
Steev: computer. word. what types of programs do you
use?
Bluebird Sludge: that's all a secret. I can't discuss that.
Steev: ah, i see i see.
Bluebird Sludge: The name Bluebird Sludge derived from me and my FRIEND'S
friend playing a game where he the first thing that came to his mind when
I said a word. I said "Bluebird" he said "Sludge" and
the rest is history. Thanks for asking.
Steev: no problem. that was a good question by me.
Steev: score.
Steev: so, what are some of your favorite albums, that may or may not have
influenced you in any way?
Bluebird Sludge: now the Bluebird on the cover symbolizes the music industry.
Upon listening to my album, the bluebird is converted into sludge.
Steev: sounds deep.
Bluebird Sludge: i want to say pre-sludge
Bluebird Sludge: the cover is pre-sludge
Steev: kinda like pre-cum.
Bluebird Sludge: plus we couldn't afford to bash a bluebird's skull in
Bluebird Sludge: shh.
Bluebird Sludge: ok..albums that influnced me...
Bluebird Sludge: Pharcyde's "Bizzare Ride 2 The Pharcyde" is my
favorite album of all time
Bluebird Sludge: and the band whose lyrics I relate to the most is Glassjaw
Steev: nice to see you're musical tastes are as diverse
as your music itself.
Bluebird Sludge: I can't say my album's sound isn't influenced by anybody..it
just came out..but Mike Patton really inspired me to not be afraid to try
anything
Steev: mike patton is the man.
Steev: what patton project would you call your favorite?
Bluebird Sludge: Don't you wish you were interviewing Mike Patton instead
of me?
Bluebird Sludge: haha
Bluebird Sludge: Mr. Bungle "Disco Volante"
Steev: if i saw mike patton i would walk up to him and
slap him cuz i bet he would like it.
Bluebird Sludge: the Fantomas album is great..I just gotta be in the mood
for it
Steev: i like director's cut over the self titled.
Bluebird Sludge: i like the self-titled better.
Bluebird Sludge: so fuck you
Steev: bitch, you can't afford me.
Steev: well tommy, unless you have something else you would like to discuss,
i'm out of questions... anything else you would like to talk about, or any
final words of wisdom?
Bluebird Sludge: yeah. If you (the reader) read this WHOLE interview...thanks
a whole bunch. I really appricate your dedication.
Steev: yea, this interview was hard to get through.
i almost gave up reading it when i was editing it.
Bluebird Sludge: oh yeah..BUY MY ALBUM!
Bluebird Sludge: It shall be for sale VERY soon
Steev: thanks for your time dude. good luck with your
album and rock on.
Bluebird Sludge: thanks
Steev: also tell your mom i said hi... we used to date..
Bluebird Sludge: goodluck on your HIV
Steev: i'm working on it.
Steev: it will be for sale soon.
Bluebird Sludge: THE END
