Bead Jewels

Created with care and flair by

  Deborah S. Wolf

The Process

Moretti glass beads begin as glass rods that are heated to a temperature of 1200 degrees.  The glass melts and is then formed into a bead on a rod called a mandrel.

After shaping, decorating and/or sculpting the glass for anywhere from 10 to 30 minutes, the bead is then carefully flame annealed and then transferred to a kiln to further strengthen it.

After several hours (or overnight) the bead cools, is removed from the mandrel and cleaned with a diamond reamer.

The Product

Now the beads are ready to be selected and matched for jewelry pieces.  Earrings, bracelets, necklaces, pendants and even bead pens are designed and assembled.
