The movie opens with a man in the rain, staring at an old picture of four friends (Alex, Samantha, Jessey, and Nikki) Time goes back to when the picture was being taken. Alex, through an internal monologue tells about about his himself, his life, and his friends, Jessey, Samantha, and Nikki. The four then start talking about a party set to take place at Alex's house that night. Alex's parents both work all the time and are constantly out of town, which allows Alex to have the house to himself quite often. That night a party is well underway at Alex's house, but Alex is not part of the party scene, he has secluded himself in his room upstairs, where he is playing his guitar while sitting at his computer, but his seclusion is cut short when the door to his room opens. Alex is suprised (though he dosnt show it) to find Holly, the most popular girl in school, standing in his doorway. They talk quite briefly, but its obvious that Holly wants to have sex. Alex questions her about it shortly, before giving into to her. Downstairs Jessey, Nikki, and Sam are all conversing with one another, when they see Holly come walking down the stairs. The three of them go up to Alex's room to find out what happend, although they know Alex occasionly has sex, they are quite curious as to how or why it happend with Holly. When the three question Alex about it, he asks them to drop it, to which Jessey, Nikki, and Sam feel that Alex is trying to blow them off. Alex feels somewhat remorsefull about the situation, so to make up for it he decides to take his three friends out. The party is still going strong at Alex's house as they exit, and Sam asks Alex if he's worried, leaving his house unattended, but luckily Alex spots a police patrol car pulling up to his house, and takes the opportunity to tell the police about the party, that is disturbing the neighborhood, leaving out the fact that its his house. The cops go inside to break up the party as the four friends start walking down the block. Alex relizes theyve all been drinking and are in no condition to drive, so phones some transportation, but given that Alex is wealthy he sends for a limo, rather than a cab. Shortly there after a limo arrives and the four all hop in. When inside the four are having a good time enjoying themselves, drinking, talking, hanging out of the sun roof, and what not. Nikki says she feels too cooped up in the limo and wants to hit a club, the other three give in and go to a club. Alex bribes his way in along with paying off a waitress to bring them alcohol, despite being underage. Jessey and Nikki hit the dance floor while, Alex and Sam stay at their table, not being ones for dancing. Alex and Sam chat while watching Jessey and Nikki dance. Its not too long after that Jessey and Nikki take a break to relax and get something to drink back at their table. The four talk shortly, but a slow song begins to play that Nikki desperately wants to dance to, but Jessey is tired, and dosnt like slow dancing to begin with, so he pressures Alex to dance with her, then Nikki pressures Alex, and to Alex's suprise Sam joins in on the peer pressure. Alex caves telling Jessey that he owes him one. On the dance floor Nikki and Alex talk, while back at the table Jessey and Sam are having their own conversation. By the end of the night the four are drunk and arrive back at Alex's house. Alex insists that they spend the night there, because he dosnt want them to go home drunk, and despite the place being a mess from the part Jessey, Sam, and Nikki all sleep over. Around 10am Alex is awoken by the sound of his maid Rosa who comes twice every week to clean. She however is not suprised by the mess, because she knows Alex and his habits quite well, and is almost like a second mother to him. Alex gets up and decides to get Jessey, Alex, and Sam up as well, so that they wont be in Rosa's way while they clean, and take them all for breakfest. They go out, eat, talk, and while talking Nikki mentions how her and Jessey have to go to church tommorow, while it baffles Alex that the two of them go to church, he talks to them about it, being curious, so Nikki decides to invite Alex to go to church with her family.
