“Pearl, where is my beer?” Alex shouted out across the pub, trying to impress some pretty college girls sitting nearby.
Unlike Alex, the most beautiful girl to me was Pearl. With her sun-lighted red hair floating in the wind, it made every guy, especially me goes crazy and-- Oh no, here she comes! What shall I do? Is my hair okay? Am I drooling? Wait, why am I talking to myself? Okay, be cool Savory, this will be the night you’re finally going to ask her out. So don’t mess it up!
“Are you alright, Savory?” Tristan caught me in the middle of fixing my tangled hair.
“Huh, what? Oh, I’m fine! Why? Do I look awful? Come on, tell me.”
“Oh noooo. You looked damn fine; like a ladies’ man with your boyish cap, your messy brown head, oh, and may I go on about your darnable eyes, the color of jade, and… and…” Tristan informed with fake flatteries.
“Oh, shut up!” I yelled at him with embarrassment.
Alex asks as he spies around the dim pub, “Who do you have a crush on now, Savory? She must be really fine!”
“No, you might rip my head off if you knew.” I softly replied.
“Don’t be selfish, we can share her,” Alex joked, “but you know she will fall under my charms, since you don’t have any.”
“Well, your sister probably knows you long enough to grow sick of your mastered charms-" I accidentally answered.
“Ouch! Alex got cracked by his best bud, isn’t that interesting!” Tristan laughed loudly.
“What… you have a crush on my sister? You’re joking, right Savory?” Alex asked cautiously.
“No man, I’m serious, she’s a nice girl! I really want to go out with her.” I confessed.
“You know this will eventually ruin our friendship, and still you want to go there?” Alex asked seriously.
“Alex, chill out, it’s not like he can get Pearl to say ‘yes’ anyway, she’s too tough.” Tristan said and turned to me, “No offend Savory, but she’s tough as a nut shell!”
“A nut shell, am I?” Pearl irritably repeated.
“Pearl! H-hi, how are you? Great? That is just great… Hmm… ca-can I get a chicken sandwich?” I asked nervously.
“You already ordered one,” she said as she handed me my plate.
Alex and Tristan started laughing, “Tristan, look the guy is blushing dead red.” Alex cracked up with Tristan all over again.
“And you Alex, here is your Ice tea, or did you ordered root beer?” She replied, glancing at the college girls in the next table down from us.”
Tristan laughed louder as Alex give Pearl a chill stare, “Tristan,” Pearl started the sentence.
“Ok, I’m shutting up,” Tristan countered.
“Good!”
“Pearl, are you doing anything Friday night?” I asked shyly and pulled down my green cap to cover the upcoming put down.
“Forget about it, Savory, she is busy Friday’s night! And no she can’t go out with you. I don’t trust…” Alex paused and stared straight up at the stage.
“Listen up yo-chickas and chaps, grasp your ears together for tonight special event from Milky Way High. Introducing a love song, ‘Dreaming of you’ by the lovely Eva and Lily.” The D.J. announced.
“Whoa! Yeah! Now that what I’m talking about.” Alex shouted out.
“Yo! Hush up!” Tristan hastily whispered.
“Let me tell ya, those two girls, they’re like fire and water. It will be a miracle if they actually sing together without a fight. A catfight is gonna happens! Oh yeah, tonight is my lucky night!” Alex rubbed his hands together at the thoughts.
The audiences applauded as the beautiful Eva and Lily took their place on the stage.
“Pearl, about Friday night…?” I asked again.
“Sorry Savory, I work that night, maybe some other time…enjoy the song. I have to get back to work now, bye.” She waved me off with a faint smile.
“It’s ok, Savory, there are always other girls out there… waiting to turns you down!” Alex chuckled satisfyingly.
“Yeah… you’re right, Alex,” I said mindlessly.
“Wow, look at Lily and Eva, now those two are cute and hot! Pearl, she’s just a tomboy,” Alex said with his eyes glued on the girls.
“Alex, don’t you dare talking about my cuz, Eva, like that, or else I might have to beat the heck out of you here and now!” Tristan jokingly warned.
“Hey, chill out, I’m just trying to teach Savory here a lesson or two. I would beat his up pleasant face too if Pearl did say ‘yes’ to him, and his life will sure become a living nightmare by now.” Alex said as he massages his knuckles.
“I think I can deal with it until I gain your full trust,” I smartly countered.
Suddenly, Alex is serious again, “I’m not joking man! Give up already!”
“I like her, Alex, and nothing you do can stop me!” I hauled out.
“A ‘crush’ is a crush, nothing else! Don’t be so dumb!” Alex shouted.
The song stopped. Alex gives out a bashful look and hushed up.
“If you guys want to start some scene in here, I would advise you two to take it outside,” Pearl whispered at us with a imitating look on her face. Ahh, and what a look!
Of course, Alex and I both were somewhat afraid of that look, so we both moderately stood up and started toward the Exit. When the Exit door slammed behind us I explained, “I’m not going hurt her, Alex, and it not like she said ‘yes’ yet! She just turned me down if you haven’t noticed!”
Alex then grabbed my front black shirt and about to hit me when a couple walked by with an umbrella over their heads. “Oh great, it’s starting to rain. Just promise me you will give up on Pearl!”
“No,
there is nothing you can say or do to make me give up of the facts that I
like her! And why don’t you tell that to yourself, you’re going gaga over
Eva and Lily at the same time, what’s about them anyway?” I stated.
“Don’t you try and change the subject on me Savory.”
“Yes, that’s it isn’t it, I hit your weak point, Alex, you’re falling for those two new girls, and at the same time too. I can see that they are very pretty, but they doesn’t seem to be your type,” I informed, “Lily is way too angelic and Eva is just plain demonic, they’re just too much of each…”
“I really can’t tell you, I don’t know what it is about them, I just do…” Alex admitted softly.
“See? There you are in your little dream world, having crushes not on one, but two hotties, and still you’re blaming me for liking only one!”
“That one hottie that you are crushing on is my sister, it totally different! I’ve seen you with girls before, and it isn’t all that pleasant, Mr. Sly!” Alex bellowed.
“Oh whoa, no need on telling the whole world about it, besides, it only a few times. This time I really like your sister, and that is all that need to be said.”
“She won’t go for you man!” Giving up, Alex started walking inside.
“Than I’ll keep on trying.” I said to his back.
“Whatever dude. Oh darn, look at what you made me done! I’m missing the rest of Lily and Eva’s love song. Are you happy now?” He walked in and slammed the door.
Staring at the closed door, I gave out a relief sigh, then followed him inside, “Hey Alex, wait up!”
“Oh no, they’re gone! Hey, Pearl, where is Lily and Eva?” Alex asked across the crowed pub.
Pearl then turned around, “They’re on the back stage waiting for you with undying love. Go and see.” Pearl yelled back to Alex.
“Really, wait, you’re joking right?” Alex cautiously asked.
“Gee, you didn’t think they would stay here and wait for you, did you?” Tristan appeared around the corner with his humor in his damned eyes.
“Better next time Alex!” I joked.
“Same to you Savory, same to you…” Alex said vainly with his hand together in beating motion.
“Uh, I think that my que to get lost. Well, I'll be see you all in school tomorrow. Buh bye!” I said nervously and dashed myself home in the rainy night. Then I thought to myself, things are not gonna be the same from now on is it?
To be continued...
