For those not aware of us, Leave 'em Laughing is Jacksonville, FL.'s "Tent" (member) of The International Laurel & Hardy Appreciation Society (a/k/a Sons of the Desert). We have a regular, on-going membership but can always use more publicity.
Folio Weekly, Jacksonville's free weekly entertainment newspaper, is now running its annual "Best of Jax Readers Poll." Inside the middle of every Folio Weekly from now through Sept. 9, 2008 is a pull-out section on which you can vote for your favorite Jax places (restaurants, bars, etc.)
Last year, the Poll had a blank for "Best Whatever," in which you could nominate a group which wasn't already listed in the Poll. At that time, I'd asked locals to submit a vote for my Laurel & Hardy group, in order to garner some publicity for it. However, in this year's poll, there is no "Best Whatever" blank.
Of the entries which are already listed, the closest I could find for my own nomination would be # 22, "Best Local Cult." (You could also make a case for # 26, "Best Local Looney," but I'm not going there.)
Therefore, I would appreciate your taking the time to find an issue of Folio ASAP (it's distributed each Tuesday), complete the Poll, and send it via "snail mail" to Folio Weekly by their deadline, Sept. 11, 2008. If you complete the Poll, please fill in the blank for # 22 as follows:

As I attempted last year, I am hoping that Folio will receive enough such entries that perhaps they will list us as a winner in the Poll and mention us in their publication. Please also take the time to forward this message to any local people who could assist in this matter.
