Manga Introduction

Le Cirque de Karakuri (Karakuri Circus) is Kazuhiro Fujita's latest work, which is still being published in Shonen Sunday, one of the largest weekly manga magazines in Japan. At this time of posting, there are 41 volumes available.

Karakuri is Japanese for mechanical dolls/puppets or intricate mechanisms/gadgets. As the name suggests, the plot of the series is certainly closely intertwined with "Karakuri" and "Circus".

This manga initially focuses on 3 characters: Katou Narumi, a skilled chinese martial artist who has a strange disease where one must make others laugh in order to prevent suffocation; Saiga Masaru, a boy who has recently inherited a vast amount of money and is being chased by assassins; and Shirogane, a French circus acrobat who wields an 8-feet marionette by the name of Arurukan. All is not well when they cross paths, as Narumi and Shirogane find themselves being dragged deeper and deeper into Masaru's affairs. And thus the curtain rises...
