Why Comic Books?
This is the most extensive section of this site. I don't illustrate comic books so much anymore, but it proved to be the best artistic exercise I've ever done. For one, you have to draw many panels instead of just one, while also keeping in mind page layout, composition, pacing and so on. In many ways I compared it to being the director of a film, while also juggling production design, costume design, editing and cinematography. This is and was my favorite part of comic books. It's a great way to hone story-telling skills, which can prove very valuable to somebody like me, who aspires to become a film director. And comics are a cheap way of telling a story! And this is why storyboards have been often compared to comic books, and being used more and more in the film industry.
