Pictures

These pictures document my weight loss journey. I began following Dr. Phil's Weight Loss Challenge in January 2004. I'm still using his 7 keys to maintain a healthy lifestyle.

Before
There are really very few pictures of me in my collections of photos.  Mostly just pics of the kids.  Whenever hubby pointed a camera at me I had a tendancy to either run away or make a face.  Fortunately I was able to dig up a few that aren't so very bad.

at computerThis was a pretty typical picture of me, sitting in front of the computer.  When I was pregnant with my youngest I tipped the scales at over 300 lbs.  But got back down to about 280 by the time this was taken.

grand canyon

Here I was at the Grand Canyon
about 2 months pregnant with my
4th child.  I was very scared about
being pregnant while I was so heavy.
I worried about gaining even more
weight, about developing gestational
diabetes or even having a heart
attack during delivery.  It was a very
uncomfortable pregnancy for me.
Thank heavens everything turned
out just fine, and I ended up with a
beautiful, healthy little girl.

caught!

Here I am at a party, just before starting out on the WLC.  Note the Cheeze Wiz covered cracker held down low so nobody will see.   I was a sneeky one, I was!  But hubby caught me for all to see.

eek!
When I first saw this pic of me
on the Fox River I wanted to burn it,
but it's become one of my favorites!
Yes, I'm fat, but damn it I'm having
a great time!  I look active, silly,
friendly, and like the kind of person
who takes chances and doesn't let
a little difficulty or fear of embarrassment
get in the way of accomplishing
her goals.  That's who I want to be, fat OR thin!

In Progress

smileTwo months and 30 lbs into the challenge,
and my face has already thinned out considerably.

Yes, it's true. I have no eyebrows.

Three months in, and 40 lbs gone!
Here I am visiting my parents house.
I was so worried whether they'd notice
a difference I didn't notice my dad had
lost 30 himself!  Doh!

And there's my beautiful little Boo!
(Yes, her older siblings are beautiful, too!)

mom and sonHere I am with my son, who at 103 lbs
weighs approximately the same amount as I had lost at the time of this picture.

Timeline Photos:

Ideally the first photo in the lineup would be at my beginning weight, but I didn't get on the ball.  I think I feared doing an official "BEFORE" picture would somehow jinx this whole undertaking.  Better late than never, I say!  Besides, there's still plenty of progress to document.

I want to say a special thanks to the folks at Healthtrax Fitness & Wellness Center, especially the most wonderful ladies in the universe, the ladies in the Youth Activity Center who make it possible for me to work out regularly knowing my daughter is well cared for.  I love my gym.  It has a clean, open environment with facilities to cater to people at ALL fitness levels.  The people are friendly, and even at my heaviest I never felt self-conscious or awkward about working out there.  It's always a treat to go there.  Never a task.
