A New Superfriend
Part Two
by: John

Superman soared up in the air next to the skyscraper. He was under the yellow ranger, and with great care, he caught her in his arms. As he cradled her gently, he noticed she was a bit disoriented from the intensity of her fall. Superman told her reassuringly, "It's all right, Miss. I have you."

The words to Taylor were like music. Through her blurry vision she noticed she was in the arms of a man and a handsome one at that. He reminded her of the man she saw in the park, but this guy seemed more colorful and didn't seem to slouch. Also, he didn't wear glasses, and his hair was in a different style. It came as a shock to Taylor when she realized where she was and the fact that this handsome guy was flying her upward under what seemed his own power. In a confused tone she asked, "Who are you?"

He replied politely, "A friend."

Meanwhile, back on top of the skyscraper, Calabach was advancing on the weakened rangers.

Cole and the others struggled to their feet, while Calabach slowly approached revolving his club. Cole was outraged by this monster's attack. He had mercilessly sent Taylor to her death, and Cole wanted to make him pay. Cole charged like a wild man at Calabach, while Calabach wielded his club ready to fire another energy emission. Cole reached him first and delivered a power kick to Calabach's abdomen. Calabach fell back a bit but was quick to counter strike with his club. Cole was struck hard by the blow and back flipped onto his stomach by its sheer force. Calabach laughed as he saw Cole struggle to get up, and the other three were cautiously standing back. "These warriors are pitiful!" Calabach yelled. "I could rule this dimension easily!"

"Not while I'm here!" called a voice from the sky. Calabach looked around and met Superman, who was carrying the yellow ranger in his arms. Superman landed gracefully on the roof of the skyscraper and set the yellow ranger on her feet.

Taylor joined her friends, while Superman and Calabach started their fight.

Cole was happy to see Taylor alive. The two embraced, then turned to the fight.

Superman was winning this battle. His super speed and strength allowed him to stop Calabach's combat moves, and counter with his own.

The rangers were surprised by the power of their new friend. He was succeeding where they had failed. "Who is he?" Cole asked Taylor.

"I don't know," Taylor replied. "When he caught me, he said he was a friend."

Superman now had Calabach on the ropes. Calabach was getting more and more frustrated with losing that his style was getting sloppy. Superman nailed him with a massive jab, which forced him back several yards.

Forcing himself to calm down, Calabach was able to think. He knew that in this situation that Superman would take him back and he would be imprisoned. So the only alternative was to postpone this fight until he could find a way to be in control. So, going with his instincts, Calabach turned his attention away from Superman and attacked the civilian reporters instead with his club.

The reporter and cameraman were caught off guard as Calabach fired an energy emission at them. The blast hit the ground they stood on, and it tore away its connection to the roof itself. So the huge chunk of roof slid slowly off of its former resting place and was now plummeting down to the ground with a screaming reporter and cameraman hanging on to it.

"We shall continue this later," Calabach said, "when the odds are in my favor."

Superman watched helplessly as Calabach got away, but acting quickly, he soared downward after the two media individuals as well as the debris.

The rangers stood silent while watching Superman soar down and grab the debris as well as the two men. He slowed their descent so that they landed easily on the ground. "Who is this guy?" asked Max who was awe-struck.

"I don't know, but I'm going to find out," said Taylor. The rangers then left for the Animarium.

Superman made sure the two men were all right and were taken by the medics that were present. However, other media people were anxious to talk with him. He heard one ask, "Sir, can we get a word from you? Who are you?" He heard another ask, "Why are you here?" Being careful not to reveal anything about himself or where he came from, Superman just smiled for the camera and waved as he flew off at super speed.

Back at the Animarium, everyone was in deep discussion.

"I just am so surprised. I'm at a loss for words," said Danny.

"Yes, he does leave that effect. Doesn't he?" said Taylor smiling.

"It was so cool how he flew up and rescued Taylor. Then he goes down and helps those reporter guys," said Max. "I bet you he's even stronger than the yellow time force ranger, Katie."

"And what about his fighting?" said Cole who was impressed. "I mean, while we got our butts kicked by that Calabach guy, he makes it look like child's play."

"I must say, though, it is a peculiar circumstance of why he's here," said Shayla. "Earlier when I felt something was out of place in the city, that feeling felt stronger as I watched him and that Calabach through the fountain."

"So you think it's the both of them?" asked Alyssa. "What do you mean out of place, though?"

"Well, I have a sense of feeling equality that flows through the universe," said Shayla. "It was yesterday that the equilibrium of good and evil was thrown out of alignment. You see, the forces of good and evil must remain equal in terms. Otherwise, it's chaos. It was yesterday afternoon I felt a powerful, merciless source of evil appear on the earth."

"That must have been Calabach," said Danny.

"Maybe," said Shayla, "It wasn't soon after that that I was overwhelmed by an even greater presence of good."

"It must have been this guy," said Cole.

"Who is he, though? Where did he come from?" asked Alyssa.

"I'm trying to find out," said Taylor who was watching the news on television. "He's man of few words it seems. After he rescued the two media guys, he just smiled and flew away."

"He's back on the hunt for that Calabach guy, just like we should be," said Max.

"You're right. We can't lose sight of our mission," said Cole, "I'm just worried that the orgs will take advantage of this new character. An alliance like that would be hard to stop."

Little did Cole know that just outside the city his worst fears were becoming realized.

Calabach hid in the outskirts of the city in the rocky hill area. He sat planning his next move to get Superman. When suddenly he heard a noise behind him. Reacting quickly, he drew his club and faced the source of the noise. It was behind a tall and wide bush that the sound of breathing came from. "Show yourself!" Calabach demanded. And out from behind the bush came Master Org.

"Great warrior, Calabach, I have a proposition for you," said Master Org with an evil grin.

TO BE CONTINUED. . .
Next Time: Master Org and Calabach make a deal that could spell certain doom for the rangers. And what about Superman? Will the Man of Steel find Calabach and get back in time before it runs out?
