Solomon's Wisdom

SOLOMON

"SO IT IS THAT, AS SOLOMON LAY ON HIS DEATH BED, I PERFORMED THE GREATEST ACT OF WIZARDRY I HAD EVER ATTEMPTED. I GATHERED TO MY BOSOM BUT A SMALL FRACTION OF HIS ESSENCE, HIS WISDOM--AND LEFT ISRAEL, NEVER TO RETURN. SOLOMON ONCE SPOKE OF A CHAMPION FOR ALL MANKIND. THE LIGHTNING THAT ESCORTED ME SIGNATURED MY DESTINY."--The Wizard Shazam, The War of the Gods # 4.

Very little is known about when Shazam met Solomon, some people place this event around the 10th Century B.C. What is truth, is that Solomon was still the wisest man alive.

The former Caananite boy named Jebediah, made a good friendship with the legendary King of the Bible, attracted by the legend of the splendor of his court, he arrived to Israel. The impact that this encounter had in the wizard was so great, that in the words of the same wizard, the legend of Shazam began when he met the King Solomon. The Wisdom of Solomon!

Truly, this legend began some years before, when in a visit to Greece and to Rome during the Age of Myth, the wizard met some other gods, heroes and titans who agreed with him to bestow a part of their powers in order to create a champion for the humankind.

Solomon himself imparted part of his wiseness during his life, while Shazam stayed with him until the death of the King, as his friend and pupil. As the phrase on the top of this page states, is likely that both men talked about the possibility of this champion, and in so, Shazam gathered his wisdom on his death bed. With great pain, Shazam left Israel, probably with the echo of a question he made while chronicling this..."How could the world bear the loss of such a man?"

What isn't clear, is, if it was at this moment or many years later, that the wizard Shazam completed his spell of gathering the whole of the powers needed for the creation of the future champion who will came to be known as Captain Marvel.
