A Little History About Anam Caras
Anam Caras (Ah-nam Kär-as: Gaelic: Soul Friends) are everywhere. Most people can't see them or feel them; what's more, they've never even heard of them. Why legends of Fairies, Leprechauns, and Pookas are well known and stories of Anam Caras are not, defies explanation. To adults who have heard of them, Anam Caras are vaguely remembered mythical creatures from a land of fable, but to children who have met them, they are as real as the earth and as luminous as the moon.
Anam Caras are an order of ancient mystical beings, similar to Guardian Angels. They are protectors of the soul, guardians of the heart, and guides of the spirit. Immortal Anam Caras come and go freely between our world and their mystical parallel otherworld, Tír-Anam (Tear-Ah-nam Gaelic: Land of Soul). They intend to bring the warmth and wisdom of Tír-Anam to every child on earth.
Anam Caras have a mission. They believe that this current generation of children has the potential to, one day, establish world peace. The Anam Caras' benevolent leader, Danú the Goddess of Bogha Báistí (Bow-a Bawshtee Gaelic "Rainbow ") says, “Peace begins in the heart.” To that end, Anam Caras magically appear to children around the world to teach them to celebrate diversity, respect nature and embrace unity.
