                    Chapter Four

*When there's lightning - it always bring me down
Because it's free and I see that it's me
Who’s lost and never found
I cry for magic - I feel it dancing in the light
But it was cold - I lost my hold
To the shadows of the night
There's no sign of the morning coming
You've been left on your own
Like a Rainbow in the Dark
Do your demons - do they ever let you go
When you've tried - do they hide -deep inside
Is it someone that you know?
You're a picture - just an image caught in time
We're a lie - you and I
We're words without a rhyme
There's no sign of the morning coming
You've been left on your own
Like a Rainbow in the Dark
When there's lightning - it always brings me down
Because it's free and I see that it's me
Who's lost and never found
Fell the magic -fell it dancing in the air
But its fear - and you'll hear
It calling you bewares
There's no sign of the morning coming
There's no sight of the day
You've been left on your own
Like a Rainbow in the Dark.*

“No way!  There’s no way we can trust her.”  Complained Taylor.  “She’s an org!”

The Rangers were still at the Animarium trying to decide how to handle what has happened.  Danny spoke up.  “But she’s human, too.  I think we should give her a benefit of the doubt.”

Taylor sat down after pacing about.  “I have my doubts, they won’t change anytime soon.”

Cole sat next to her.  “That’s ok; you’re entitled to feel that way.  But can you imagine what Brianna is going through?  To find out she isn’t who she thought she was all along.  To know now that her parents are gone.  I know how it feels… your life gets turned upside down in seconds, it can be petty overwhelming.”

Taylor looked to him.  “I know Cole, and I’m sorry for your loss.  Have you forgotten what she did to us earlier?  She knocked us all off the ground with such strong force.  I just can’t shake this feeling that Brianna could be the death of us.”

“Whoa, that’s comforting.”  Max said.

“I don’t think she knew what she was doing, she didn’t mean it.  After all, it’s obvious she was pretty overwhelmed.” Danny stated.

“I wonder what she’ll plan to do now?”  Asked Alyssa.  “I mean, she’s my music instructor.  It’s going to be really weird having an org for a teacher.”

Shayla had been listening to them from a distance.  Hearing Alyssa say that struck a nerve.  She walked towards them with a fast pace.  “She may be org, but she is also my sister!  This hasn’t been easy for any of us, Rangers.  But please, give her the chance she deserves.  Loki-Mara has lost a lot from her life, and I want to make things right for her.  All I ask from you Rangers is some sympathy,” she looked to Taylor. “And a little compassion wouldn’t hurt either.”

“Easy, Princess, they meant no ill-manner towards Loki.”  Merrick assured her.  “We’ll help her in any way we can.  But you heard her yourself, she wants some time alone, and maybe it’s best we back off.”

Shayla sighed.  “I just pray she can pull through this.  I want to be there for her…unlike my mother and Zen’Aku, I can be a part of her life.”  She sat on the edge of the sacred pool and waved her hand through the water.  “I can’t give back what was lost, but I want to try to make things right.”

Cole approached her.  “And we’ll help, count on it.”  The other Rangers nodded in agreement.

Taylor on the other hand was still reluctant.

I was wandering around in the forest, trying to fathom everything that was going on.

I’m better off alone.  No one can help me.

My raven was flying around freely in the sky above me.  I watched it and wanted to feel as free as it did.

You’re a part of me now.  I thought.  Maybe I’m not alone after-all…  There are so many things I need to know about myself.  This power I possess… what if I end up hurting someone by accident?

I sat down under a tree and the raven perched itself in the tree’s branch.  My eye caught a flower and I picked it.  I smelled its scent and sighed.  Do I belong here?  Or should I continue my life as I have been living it as a normal human being?  Human…I’m not normal.

As I held the flower, I felt anger rising inside me again.  How could I be tossed aside like that?  The people who should have loved me deserted me!

I closed my eyes and didn’t realize that the flower was being drained of its life, turning brown and brittle.  I felt it crumbling and looked at it.  I was draining its essence.

I gasped and stood up.  Is this another ability I have?  I need to know just what I'm capable of.  What powers do I actually have?

Suddenly I could sense that I wasn’t alone.  The raven was even aware of something.  It swooped down and perched on my shoulder.

“You feel it too?”  I asked it.  I took a few steps away from the tree and looked around.  Then I saw someone step out of the shadows.

“So…the daughter of the late Zen-Aku does exist.  I’ve had my suspicions but now here you are…”

I folded my arms.  “And you might be?”

He smirked.  “Master Org, remember my name well.”

I decided to mock him.  I heard of this creep, and he sure didn’t scare me.  “Well, MISTER Org…It matters little to me who you are, so if you’ll excuse me, I have to go.”

As I walked past him, he said “I can help you.  You want to know more about yourself and your power.   We share a lot in common.”

I stopped and turned to him.  “I really doubt that.  Go away.”

He growled and aimed his staff at me, unleashing an energy bolt that struck me and threw me to the ground.  I got the wind knocked out of me and laid there in pain.  “That’s not a good way to convince me.” I breathed.

“You belong with your own kind, the orgs.  No human will accept you!  Don’t be a fool to think otherwise!”

I slowly got to my feet.  The raven’s eyes started to glow red and mine as well.  It swooped down to attack him but he shot at it.  But my raven dodged his attack.  Then I unleashed my own power and lunged at Master Org.  The shock wave knocked him down then the raven let out a high piecing sound that was deafening.

The Rangers appeared and started to help out.

“Brianna!  Are you ok?”  Asked Cole.

My rage was consuming my mind.  I turned to Cole and spin-kicked him.  “I can handle this on my own!”  I shouted, eyes still glowing.

Master Org was back on his feet.  “You see that, Loki-Mara?  They think you can’t defend yourself!  I would find that to be insulting!  How can these pathetic beings help you when they don’t even understand what you’re going through?”

“Stop twisting things around, Master Org!”  Shouted Merrick.  “Loki, don’t listen to him!  He’s trying to confuse you.”

I stood there silently for a moment.  “All of you just back off!”  My head hurt like hell again, this time it was causing me to change.  I help my head and groaned.  “STOP!  JUST… STOP!”  I screamed.  Then my transformation began.  2 horns about 3 inches long sprouted from my head, my nails grew longer, and were black.  The pain was horrible.

Merrick tried to approach me, but an energy field was surrounding me.

Master Org was watching with amazement.

“Go now, Rangers!  I might…hurt you!  Please!”

“What?  No chance!  We’re sticking by you all the way.”  Cole said.

You ignorant little jerk, said Master Org to himself.  Your loyalty will only strike you down in the end!  Soon she will see that her place is among the orgs.

“No…”  With that I shot an energy beam at Cole, purposely missing him as a warning shot.  “I can handle Master Org.  Let me prove myself to you!”

Merrick looked to Cole.  “This is what she wants, let her go.”

“She could be killed!”  Cried Alyssa.

Or you could be… I thought.  He’s right.  I do belong with my own kind.  What human could understand what I’m going through?  Maybe I should listen to him.  By now I was so consumed with anger that I wanted to hurt them ALL.

The other Rangers left reluctantly.  Something is up, why does she choose to be alone with that creep?  Wondered Taylor as she disappeared.

Merrick looked over his shoulder to me. “If you need help, I’ll be here for you.  Don’t let Master Org trick you.  You can’t trust him.”  He then glared at Master Org.  “I’ll be watching you, and if you even hurt her, I’m coming for you!”

He smirked.  “So sure of yourself, eh Wolf Ranger?  This is coming from the one who killed your father, Loki.”

“He…had no choice…”  Man was I really confused.  Part of me wanted to tear Merrick to shreds, another part of me wanted to spit on Master Org for reminding me of my father’s death.  “And my name is Brianna!  YOU remember MY name well!”  An energy surrounded my arm, and a blade appeared in my hand.  I ran towards Master Org with full force.

He grabbed my arm and smirked.  “Impressive, ‘Brianna.’”

As he was clutching my arm I looked to see if we were finally alone, and we were.  I squirmed out of his grasp.  “You offered to help me.  What exactly can you do for me?”

He smiled.  “Oh, a sudden change of mind now?  After you just tried to injure me…  Very deceiving, just like your father.”

“You’re  loving every minute of this.  Help me be what I really am…the org in me wishes to be set free, I can feel it.”  My raven was watching me, its own dark power wishing to be released.

“Why should I help you now?”

I drew closer to him.  “Because if you do, I can give you the one thing you so much desire.  The destruction of the Animarium…”
