So I bought this City of Heroes game, and it let me design and become my own superhero, which has been a dream of mine since childhood. I created and deleted about 8 heroes, including the ill fated "Kill Whitey" who got me banned for 3 days. After my 3 day ban, I saw a hero with horns who I thought looked like a bull from far away. Upon closer inspection of said hero, he was just another cliche demon hero named something like xXDarknessLordXx who wore all black and had horns. But I still thought the bull hero would have been amazing, so I made Battle Bovine.
Battle Bovine, you are one silly little bitch. What inspired you to make these comics?
I loved playing this game and being a super hero, but one aspect of the super hero life was missing: Fame. Every super hero I grew up on was famous, and I wanted that, dammit. Then one day I stumbled upon a hero in the game named Ascendant. He would park himself in front of a payphone and start having hilarious one sided phone conversations for everyone to see, and like that, he was an in-game celebrity. After seeing that one could attain celebrity status in the game, I set my mind to getting my name known. I knew that I couldn't do phone conversations like Ascendant, because I'm not that funny and everyone would know me for a blatant Ascendant rip off. So, I found The Debator's comics and ripped him off instead. In fact, the first couple episode of Battle Bovine are blatant rip-offs of my favorite comedy shows. I stole a couple jokes from Futurama and Monty Python, and the entire treating the vending machine as a villain thing is from The Tick. In fact, Battle Bovine is one big Tick knock off. There. It needed to be said.
Anyways, within a day of posting the first episode, people starting recognising me in game and followed me to see if I would do anything funny. So celebrity status is now attained.
How do you make a comic?
I take screenshots from the game and add word balloons to them with mspaint. Sometimes I use photoshop when I need to, but I enjoy the half-assed look that mspaint gives me. It takes me about 2 hours to take the screenshots and add the word balloons and post them online.
If it only takes 2 hours, why don't you make comics more often, like once a week?
I've thought about doing that, but I'd rather not force myself to make comics. Right now, I just make a comic whenever I get a good idea. I'd rather have a few really good comics instead of a bunch of boring and forced comics.
