Hey,
David here, and welcome to the beginning of Assassin: A Love Story; In these
commentaries that accompany each page we discuss our thoughts on the comic, our
rants and raves if you will. As you may already know, I am the artist for this
comic. As for the process, I start with a bic mechanical pencil, with red lead
instead of normal lead. I start the basic sketches on a sheet of computer copy
paper, after I finish the basic sketch, I go through with a normal leaded
pencil. Then I ink with just about any pen I have available, usually they are
ballpoints. When I scan the comic, I use Adobe
Streamline to convert the image so it can be
adjusted in Photoshop, I add the shading at a 20% opacity layer. Finally I add
text and dialogue balloons.
With this page however, my inking tool was sharpie markers... which made me fall unconscious. Oh well...
I remember when I wrote the first page of this. Handwritten, and I wrote issue one within an hour. It was just a very fun idea, that I fell in love with. Hope other people do, but it's no big deal ^_^.
