Porsche 911

Why would anyone need such a fine car as the Porsche 911? Why would someone possibly want a car that can accelerate from 0-62 mph in a mire 3.7 sec.? Who could possibly desire such an automobile that is packing 415-horse power and 413 lb-ft of torque pushing it to an amazing time of 12.4 sec on the quarter mile run? The answer to this question is man. For all of history man has desired the ability go fast and fly high. This is the car that will do that for you. This is the car that will push you harder and faster than you can push yourself. This is the Porsche 911.

History

The history of the Porsche starts in 1900 when young engineer Ferdinand Porsche unveiled the Lohner-Porsche Electric Car at the Paris Car Expo. Ferdinand Porsche was a car design mastermind. He worked for such companies such as Mercedes before he founded the Porsche Engineering Office in Stuttgart, Germany in 1931. While working for Mercedes he helped design the now legendary Mercedes SS and SSK supercharged sports car. F. Porsche designed the Volkswagen prototypes Type 32 and Type 60, which were tested in 1936 and in 1938 Volkswagen assembly lines for these cars were erected.

In 1947 the Porsche car company got into the business of racing when Ferdinand Porsche Jr. created a Grand Prix racing. The business of racing was continued in 1948 when Ferry Porsche, Ferdinand Porsches son, directed the building of a sports car. This car was the Porsche 356, the first racecar to be constructed bearing the name and logo of Porsche. Although the first Porsche racecar was built in 1948 the first win from a Porsche wouldn’t come until 1951 when the Porsche 356 won first in the 24 Hours of Le Mans. This year also marked the death of the original Porsche genius Ferdinand Porsche Sr., who died at the age of 75.

Porsche GTs

The new age of Porsche racing has made some great achievements in all fields of the competition. The Porsche 911 GT1 is in my opinion the finest racecar ever made. Under the hood it is packing an amazing 544hp with a top speed of 206mph. It can go from 0-60 in 3.2-3.6* seconds and it runs the quarter mile in an outstanding time of 11.6 seconds. This sweet package of a car can be yours for a mire $912,000. Although the Porsche 911 GT1 is no longer being manufactured, it’s predecessors, the Porsche 911 GT2 and GT3, are fine examples of family heritage, genius, and power.

The 911 GT2 is in my opinion the sweetest Porsche out there. This pretty looking Porsche has the power to kick the butt of any car in its class. Although it can’t outdo the faster non-street legal GT1 it kicks the butt of all other Porsche 911s. It pumps out an overwhelming 462rpm with a maximum torque of 620Nm at 4,500 rpm. This car halls with 462bhp and a top speed of 315km/h, outdoing that of the GT3 by 55km/h. The GT2 can also accelerate from 0-100mph in 4.1seconds and 0-160 in just 8.5seconds(with manual). The engine of the GT2 has evolved from that of the GT1. It is a water-cooled engine with twin-turbo flat six cylinders.

We come finally to the predecessor of all GTs, the 911 GT3. It, like the GT2, has a 6-cylinder engine, but unlike the GT2, it is air-cooled. This engine produces a maximum torque of 390 NM at 8,500 rpm and maximum power of 360hp. The GT3 engine is located in the rear and has a five-speed gearbox with rear wheel drive. This car can go 0-60kph in 2.8 and in around double the time, 5.1 seconds, it can reach 100kph. With these speeds and engine power it has a city gas consumption of 17.1 gallons per mile.

Turbo

Getting out of the GTs and Racecars we move to the more sophisticated, better controlling, extremely safer, kick but 911 Turbo. The Turbo has been around the block, a few times, and is now better than ever. The 2001 model is equipped with all wheel drive and a six-speed manual transmission. It has a monobloc fixed caliper rear and front braking system hooked up just for the safety that when you stop you don’t kill yourself. This also helps the company not get sued as much. The Turbo halls with a fricken crazy maximum horsepower of 424. Its 3.6-liter engine will mess the heck out of you when you’re cruising with at a top speed of 192 mph and a maximum torque of 415 lb/ft with only 2,700 rpm. And when your good and well form being pressed back in your seat from the performance of going 0-60 in 4.0 seconds, and 0-100 in 9.2 seconds, you can reassure yourself that everything is ok because you can from 60-0 mph in 119ft, which is perfectly fine by the cops chasing you. But don’t worry my friend, when the cops impound your car for too many speeding tickets, you’ll know that you only paid a pretty penny of $111,000 on this turbocharged beauty, and some lucky bum is going to get if for only $64,000.

Carrera

Off the road of speeding tickets and being able to feel your guts in your throat, we come to the stylish yet sleek 911 Carrera. This sexy beauty, although in my opinion is perfect for the street, can still fly around the track. With a top speed of 174 mph this hott mama can cruise from 0-60 mph in a smooth 5.2 seconds. It, like almost all Porsches, has four-wheel drive with a six-speed engine. Its top horsepower is 300, falling unfortunately to the other 911’s but don’t worry, it can still kick the butts of the other average cars on the road. And this fine beauty can be brought to you for the low introductory price of $65,000.

So if you want speed, class, power, safety, and the feeling that you get when you know that your toy is cooler than all of the other kids’ on the block, then you want a 911.
