My Thoughts
I think that introducing
compulsory work for the dole would be a good idea. This is because around 5.6% of Australias population as indicated by the Australian Bureau of Statistics are sitting at home living off tax payers money, and most of them are going to be like this for the rest of their lives, and this is way too many people.
These people are not gaining any skills and most of them don't even want to get a job.
People on the dole are receiving very
little money, so living is not very comfortable, and this could wreck peoples
lives. So to make work something compulsory for people who are on the dole, I
think that a law should be put in place by the Federal Government to stop people
being on the dole for over three months. Part of this law could include a
profile of them that had started from when they first joined to when they got
off. Included would be how many hours of compulsory work they had done and how
they went at it. As soon as their three months are over the person on the dole
should be made to do some kind of work, like community service.
When they have been on the dole once and want to go on again, a profile of theirs that has been
kept from when they first went on to when they got off should be reviewed to see
if they get another three months off or go into community service straight away.
If this is done we won't have any people growing to be like the old man in the
cartoon below.
