Anchorage is located is the Southcentral part of the state, it has a population of about a quarter million people. It is a modern city with luxury hotels, great seafood, and lots of shopping. There are many paths and trails for walking or bicycle riding, watch out, you may even encounter a moose!

This was my first stop on my return to Alaska, I spent five days with my daughter, Kacey, and new grandson, Ricky (born August 9, 2001). We visited Beluga Point, where you can sometimes see Beluga whales, we didn't see any the day we went. We also took a short trip to Kincaid Park - located on Turnigan Arm and an afternoon trip to Mt. Alyeska and Portage Glacier.

I forgot how chilly it is in Alaska and didn't pack a warm enough jacket for the end of September weather. It felt great to be back at sea level and I felt very energized.
