Biography

Beth's Biography

History

I was born just outside of Pittsburgh on July 4, 1958. I have an older brother and sister. I attended West Mifflin North High School and then York College of Pennsylvania from which I graduated in 1979.

Work History

After graduating from York College, I moved to New Jersey. I was director of medical records at a large nursing home. I only stayed about a year - that was a little too slow a pace for me. I then became Assistant Manager of Medical Records at Burlington County Hospital where I supervised a staff of about 20 women, all over the age of 35 (I was all of 21). I was offered a position in western Pennsylvania, much closer to my family, so I became Director of Medical Records at The Greenville Hospital where I stayed for about three years and was quite happy. It was then time to move on again and I ended up in Martinsburg, West Virginia in February, 1984.

Again I was managing a medical records department (whose name changed to health information). I stayed there for nine years. Once my third child was born, I decided a less stressful pace was in order. I took the position I hold now as Director of the Health Information Technology (HIT) program at Hagerstown Business College.

Personal History

Married to Neil, an IT Director at a local brick plant, with three children, Alison (15), JP (12) and Alex (10). We have a Golden Retriever named Ginger and her companion, Max!

Hobbies

Gardening, scrapbooking, watching HGTV and Food Network and traveling through as much of the United States as I can. So far, I've covered the eastern seaboard and Michigan, a trip out west is planned for 2005.

Other Interests

Currently working on my master's degree in adult education through the University of Phoenix, Longaberger Consultant, member of Soroptimist International.
