In the light of Boris Johnson's success of winning as second term as London Mayor, perhaps we should show you what BBC 1 was actually transmitting during its election coverage, when the news that the Conservatives had won Nottingham East had been announced to the nation back in 1983...
And here we are four years later. You may be interested to know that Nottingham East was fortunate to get about five minutes of air time, starting at 8 minutes 35 seconds here, and also here for the first minute or so, due to the "Sharon Atkin" situation. Did the Conservatives really win over 20,000 votes in Nottingham East back in 1987? Seems like a different universe to the Nottingham East I live in now...
