Which Conservative candidate had the most number of votes? Which Labour candidates have the least number of votes? Which election has the shortest majority? Well the answer is below in this year by year guide at what has been achieved in the elections from 1885 onwards. It seems that Louis Gluckstein has been the most successful Conservative candidate; Jack Dunnett the most successful Labour candidate; Norman Birkett the most successful Liberal candidate and Tom Mann the most successful candidate not to stand for the three main political parties. (Gluckstein and Birkett had stood against each other twice where both of them won each election). Meanwhile Jim Thornton, Thomas Proctor, John Hiley and Kenan Malik seem to echo them as their worst performing counterparts.
