The Hike
Torreys Peak Hike a Mountainous Success!
Thanks for helping Project Safeguard prevent domestic violence by supporting our annual ascent to the Rocky Mountain Continental Divide.
This year, we sponsored a hike to the 14,267 ft. summit of Torreys Peak August 12th.
We had 12 hikers who collected donations for Project Safeguard from friends, family and coworkers.
The party met at the trailhead at 7:00 a.m. and posed for the above photo. Pictured are, Steve Conrad, Anna Farber Conrad, Judy Ericson, Dean Ericson, Corinne LeBaron, Peter Ericson, Jack Brock, Julie Collett, Dr. Joe Serota and Karen Serota. Elizabeth Weishaupl, Dimple Dhabalia and Pritesh Topiwalla also made the hike. Mindy Abel fractured her elbow just before the hike and was there in spirit.
The Route Torreys is 3.5 miles southeast of Lovemand Pass and 3.5 miles south of I-70. You can see Torreys from Exit 221 on I-70 at Bakerville. The Project Safeguard party is pictured nearing the top of Torreys.
The Cause
Project Safeguard prevents domestic violence
Project Safeguard was founded in 1981 and now a non-profit organization committed to eradicating domestic violence through social change and policy development.
Of equal importance is providing unduplicated emergency legal advocacy and assistance, trauma intervention, crisis court support and other programs for battered women and their children.
PSG volunteer Dimple Dhabalia and her friend Pritesh Topiwalla reached the summit and enjoyed the view.
