All the artists who participated in the show were collaborators on our on-going social change through cultural action project that will help community members, domestic violence prevention practitioners, victims of domestic violence express themselves and reclaim their images by challenging the harmful stereotypes and mobilizing themselves as they transform their past relationships and create new visions of leadership and power.
When members of the domestic violence prevention community and survivors of domestic violence strive to hold perpetrators accountable for their violent crimes this value is reflected in their art forms. Engaging in cultural action, such as through art, community members, through these social cues can bring to their lives their feelings, sensibilities and aspects of their identities which may not be welcome in other venues.
