Bryan Westlife Go Solo March 23, 2001 Westlife heart-throb Bryan McFadden is set to be the next Ronan Keating - as he limbers up to launch a solo career. But he's allayed fans' worries by insisting he won't be leaving the record breaking Irish band. Handsome Bryan will be the first member to branch out on his own, and is enlisting rock star Bryan Admas to take him to the top of the charts. Bryan says he'll release his first solo single in the summer, after the Westlife British tour ends. A source at the band's label RCA Records says, "Bryan's absolutely not leaving the band but is really excited about doing some songs on his own. "He's a really talented lad so I've no doubt he'll produce some great songs." -- Taken from MTVASIA.COM

Kian Westlife Reveals Attackers March 22, 2001 Westlife's hunk Kian Egan is trying to come to terms with being attacked -- by two former school friends. The singer has revealed that he knew the assailants who beat him up outside a chip shop in his hometown of Sligo on Monday. But he says the attack on him and two pals was completely unprovoked. He says, "Myself and two friends were just outside Abrakebabra (takeaway) in Sligo when the two guys jumped me from behind. I got several digs and my friend got one or two. "There is no truth that I lost a tooth or had my nose broke. I'm 100-per-cent, all I have is a small cut on my nose that's all." Kian is devastated that the two attackers went to school with him. He adds, "I went to school with the two guys that jumped me. They were classmates. It's very disappointing because it was my very first night out in Sligo since Christmas and this happened. I didn't get a chance to hit back." However, the band have opted against increasing their security. The lads have vowed not to let bully boys rule their lives. A spokesman says, "We're putting this down to an isolated incident. There's no point in the lads changing their lives for the sake of a few gurriers." Police in Sligo say they are following a definite line of enquiry over the incident. -- Taken from MTVASIA.COM

March 22, 2001 Westlife wins record of the year 200! Squeaky-clean popsters Westlife got so plastered winning the Record Of The Year award they decorated bandmate Shane Filan's face. Bored of Shane's poptastic good looks, the fellow Westlifers took to his face armed with a pen. "We got so drunk after the awards finished, that we decided to draw all over Shane's face with a black marker," Nicky said. "It was a way of getting him back for all those good looking awards he always wins instead of us. "It was quite funny seeing him trying to get it all off before we turned up to the 'Smash Hits' Awards. We really had the best night of our lives though," the star added. That was despite weathering another kind of storm, however. Rival record companies executives pelted the boyband with food during their finale performance. Kian insisted "they were jealous." That feud aside, Westlife's Bryan seems to have made up with arch rivals 5ive. In true Madonna style he sported a home made 5ive t-shirt at the award ceremony to heal all rifts.

Westlife have revealed that their new album is to be called "Coast to Coast"

The exclusive concert at "Gröna Lund" were absolutely amazing. Especially when Nicky ran across the stage without any pants! when the supporting act, a guy from Sweden called "Kaah" were performing. You'll be able to see pics from the concert on the photos page when we got them ready & scanned.

Five also cancelled their appearance. But in replacement, Westlife will be holding an exclusive concert in "Gröna Lund" the 9th September.

The boys now cancel their appear on the "Okej day", for a bigger live TV-show with 'N Sync, Britney Spears, Jessica Simpson e.t.c. in the 'states, The boys were already booked for their performing in Sweden when their record company in U.S.A booked them in on the big TV-show, at the beginning their record company in U.K said no, but the bosses in the 'states couldn't accept that, with a heavily pressure from the magazine "Okej" the U.K company decided to let the boys perform in U.S.A, but they understand that it isn't good to let down an agreement, so BMG have decided to replace Five with Westlife which are on the same label. We Swedish fans are deeply disappointed, especially all of us that bought the tickets just for Westlife when they announced a week before the date of the show that they were coming, and now can't return them, but we have to make the best out of it, and go partying anyway. Sweden is a small CD-industry which always, sadly, have to stand back for the big industry in U.S.A.

Westlife announced that they will appear on the "Okej day" in Sweden, The Moffatts, Girl Thing, Point Break, Samantha Mumba, Mel B, to name a few of the other appearing acts.

They boys have been recording their new album in Stockholm for 2 weeks. They're not finished yet, and will be back recording in September.

Rumour: Following the life-threatening attack made on former Beatle George Harrison, Westlife's mums are concerned for their superstar son's safety. At the pop parent's request the boys have hired a team of heavies to protect them 24/7 from possibly danger and have also undertaken a crash course in martial arts.

Truth: A 'show us your bullet-proof vests (and pants), boys' sort of. Westlife are indeed in the process of hiring a security guard, probably of the big 'n' burly nature but not as a result of George Harrison incident. "It's just got to the stage where the guys are getting lots of attention,". Explained their press chick before adding, "but there are no plans to hire a whole team of heavies around the clock and the martial arts story is just rubbish. However the guys would no doubt appreciate a few tips on self-defence". The queue for Westlife's safety advisors start here…….. and stretches halfway around the world!

Westlife to Sweden, 15th February, including a gig at Fryshuset, the program TOPPEN on ZTV; shows Fridays at 17.00.
