Deputies arrest armed man after seven hours
     After approximately seven hours Thursday, Thomas Ardean Christensen, 43, of the Siletz area surrendered to Lincoln County Sheriff's deputies.
     The Lincoln County Special Emergency Response Team had been activated and negotiated with Christensen for most of Thursday afternoon and into the evening. He surrendered at 8:45 p.m.
     Sheriff John O'Brien said deputies were dispatched about 1:20 p.m. Thursday to Logsden Road, about 1 mile east of Siletz. When they arrived, Christensen came out of the building holding a rifle.
     Negotiating with Christensen, who was described as a wanted individual who was distraught and holding a rifle, were members of the emergency team. Members of the Oregon State Police, Newport Police Department, Toledo Police Department, and Siletz Tribal Police assisted.
     Christensen was arrested on an outstanding warrant for Failure to Appear on original charges of Attempting to Elude a Police Vehicle, Driving Under the Influence of Intoxicants, and Reckless Driving, with a security release of $250,000.
     He was also charged with Felon in Possession of a Firearm, with a security release of $25,000. More charges may be filed.
