"Jacob" PETRIE, was born in Saratov, Russia on January 9, 1876 to "Adam PETRIE and Katharina FLOHR". This family originated in Germany prior to the birth of Jacob, unknown year of emmigration. According to Jacob's last surviving daughter the family was either orphanded or abandoned shortly after his birth, records of this event are lacking. Jacob PETRIE immigrated to the United States in 1902 and arrived through the port of Baltimore, Maryland on March 29, 1902 aboard the "SS Gera" and then traveling to Northern Kansas where he stayed for a short time with a "Foos". Jacob married Katherina TRUPP in 1904, in the Fort Collins area of Colorado. They had seven children. Jacob died in Denver Colorado in the year 1944 and "Katherine" died in Fort Collins in 1965. Neither of them had become naturalized citizens at the time of their deaths, although both of them filed Declarations of intent, to do so. All of Jacob's other children are deceased.

George Petrie immigrated through the Port of Bremen Germany on March 15th 1902 and arrived in the Port of Baltimore on March 29, 1902. Aboard the SS Gera. He was traveling with his wife Elizabeth (28 years of age) and an infant Heinrich (3 months of age), their primary language spoken according to ship's documents was German.

Another George Petrie (37 years of age) immigrated through the Port of Bremen Germany in March 1906, Arriving at the Port of Galveston March 27, 1906. He was traveling with his wife Maria (35 years of age), daughters Martha (7), Maria (4), Amalia (3), Elizabeth (9), and Heinrich (30).

Jacob had at least two brothers, possibly three; George, Heinrich (Henry), and Adam. There is also indication that there were sisters in this family but this is unconfirmed at this time.
