Opportunities for Husky Alumni to Gather
Husky Mens Basketball Team in the Pac-10 Tournament
The Washington Huskies won their first game in the Pac-10 tournament by beating UCLA 91-83 on March 11th. On March 12th, they play Arizona in the Pac-10 tournament semi-finals. Tipoff is 9:45 PM MST. The Pac-10 final game will be played on March13th at 4:00 PM MST. The winner of this week's Pac-10 tournament will receive an automatic bid into the NCAA tournament, which begins on March 18th. Husky fans and alums can gather at the Jacksons Sports Grill in LoDo (20th and Blake, right across from Coors Field) for any game that the Huskies play in this year's Pac-10 and NCAA tournaments.
Other Springtime Events
Lets Get Together for Dinner
Husky alumni and friends are going to begin gathering for monthly social events at local restaurants. Thursday, March 25th, will be the first of these informal get-togethers. This month will be at the University Hills location of Beau Jo's from 5:30 PM to 8:00 PM. Stop by to enjoy some "Mountain Pie" and meet other pizza lovers who have links to the Pacific Northwest and the University of Washington.
As spring continues, we will try holding get-togethers on the fourth Thursday of each month. Locations will vary, allowing people a chance to try different cuisine from various eateries around the Denver area.
Later on this Year
Among the ideas that we are considering are a trip to the Wings Over the Rockies aviation museum, a trip to the Machu Pichu exhibit at the Museum of Science and Nature and possibly a Dawgs on Hawgs motorcycle ride. If you are a motocycle rider interested in participating, let us know.
Summer activities will include the Rocky Mountain Apple Cup golf tournament with the WSU alumni group and Alumni Night at the Colorado Rockies on August 20th.
Past UWAA Chapter Happenings
The 2003 Rocky Mountain Apple Cup Golf Tournament
Last year's golf tournament was held in July at Fox Hollow Golf Course in Lakewood. About 20 golfers from WSU and UW got together for a 9-hole, best ball, scramble tournament. Once again, a team of WSU duffers won the tournament, although turnout by Huskies was sparse. Plans are in the works for this year's tournament, later this summer.
