2. Take off the end cap and get the hairspray. The reason you want the really cheap stuff is that it has more alcohol and therefore makes the potatoes go farther. (Plus the fact that it's cheaper) I find that about 2-5 seconds of spray gives optimal distance. Don't use too much. Too much spray means less oxygen in the chamber and the gun won't fire. For shorter shots, use less spray, obviously. Quickly cap the end of the gun.
Lantern Sparker:
Turn the sparker very fast with the same kind of motion you'd use to
snap your fingers. You should hear a nice whoomp sound if the gun
goes off, along with seeing the potato fly pretty far.
Grill Igniter:
Just hold the gun, and pull the button back. Once again, you should
hear a nice whoomp sound if the gun goes off, along with seeing
the potato fly pretty far.
