3 Area Teens Missing
Santa Barbara News Press: April 12, 1993
1
An over-turned dingy
dug in broken-glass shores of Tahoe-
where a lake disguised as dark Sapphires
churning, submerging rust-ridden
Budweiser bottle caps:
their mates, sat dry under the stern.
2
An ambitious submarine
lead the foxhunt, while
40 young minds turn cranks envisioning
the boat -- one week ago:
those girls
in their dry clothes
their clean shoes
and the sorrow which emitted from the lake.
3
An impulse-infested team of teens,
did not swim in the lake,
they drank.
Then drank the California residents
and Local 3/NEWS left tracks,
all because the three girls
slept absent from school one April morn.
Set in a flurry, 40 children, and a few teary adults
whose cliché Press-happy comments, lied.

One day we sat on a vinal couch
and couldn't concieve of college,
One was commited to other's smiles
One was looser than a childs baby tooth
One was my best friend.
Five years since, the the three girls are
still labeled.
How inviting that lake looked,
what made me refuse that invitation to Tahoe
who could accept that truth
so many chances to dive,
gone, all gone.
