Shannon walked into Sorbo's Cafe. She was wearing a white blouse with the top three buttons undone so that the neckline came right above her chest. The blue flowery skirt she was wearing came up just above her knees and she accented her outfit with a pair of sandals and matching purse. Her hair was pulled back into a clip and her makeup was done lightly but perfectly. She looked good and she knew it. She was supposed to meet Dean, but was a bit early. She saw Ryan leaning against the entranceway.
"Uh, hi Ryan." She said
He smiled slyly. "Hello Shannon. Whatcha doin?"
Shannon looked around for Dean, but didn't see him. "Oh I'm just waiting for someone.
"Oh ok." He noticed Lucy sitting at a booth alone. "Hey there's Lucy over there. Have you met her?"
"No I haven't, I still don't know many people here in town."
"Well then, let me introduce you!" Ryan led Shannon to where Lucy was sitting. "Lucy? Hi."
" Hi Ryan!" Lucy smiled.
"Lucy, I'd like you to meet Shannon Conrad. She's new in town."
"Hi, nice to meet you." Lucy said.
Shannon smiled. "You too. So I guess everybody hangs out here!"
"Yeah, I'm waiting for my boyfriend." Lucy announced.
Ryan chuckled to himself.
"I'm waiting for someone too." Shannon responded.
"Oh really? New in town and met someone already? Lucky girl." Lucy exclaimed. "Oh, have a seat."
"Yeah, he's so wonderful." Shannon sighed as she sat down. "Maybe you know him, his name is Dean."
"Dean? But my boyfriend's name is--"
Dean walked in not seeing Shannon. "Sorry I took so long Lucy I was--"
Shannon turned pale. Dean look shocked. "Shannon! Um...what are you doing here so um...early?"
Shannon got up. "I don't know but I think I'd better leave."
"No wait--" Dean started to say.
"You're the Dean she's waiting for?" Lucy asked getting angry.
"Not anymore." Shannon said and glaring at him.
"No Shannon wait I was--" Dean started to explain.
"How could you do that to me?" Shannon screamed.
"You JERK!" Lucy got up and slapped him.
"Ow!" Dean yelled.
" You don't deserve my many skills!" She slapped him again.
"Ouch, quit doing that!" Dean yelled again.
"Why? You deserve it!" Lucy screamed.
Ryan was starting to enjoy this, but then saw how upset Shannon was and got serious.
"I think I'll be leaving now." Lucy grabbed her purse and headed out of the cafe.
Dean watched Lucy storm out then tried to explain again, what was going on. "Shannon look, I was only here with Lucy to--"
"No, you used me!" Shannon cried.
"No I didn't, I was--" Dean continued.
"Come on Shannon-- " Ryan took her arm.
"Stay out of this Ryan!" Dean yelled.
"No! How could you hurt her like that?" Ryan retaliated.
"Don't make me hurt you!" Dean lunged at Ryan.
Shannon got between them. "I should have known better. I thought you really liked me."
"But I do!" Dean pleaded.
"I never wanna see you again..." Shannon's eyes welled up with tears.
"No let me explain, please." Dean continued.
"It finally caught up with you Dean. One day you had to know they would find out. You can't go on juggling women like that." Ryan exclaimed.
"I was breaking up with--" Dean tried to explain once more.
"I hate you!" Shannon started sobbing and ran out of the cafe, before he could finish.
"I'm gonna kick your--" Dean lunged at Ryan again.
"Don't hit me Dean. If you do you'll never get that job as a busboy like you've always wanted."
Dean stood there fuming and Ryan left the cafe.
Scene 5:
"Wil? Wil where are ya?" Wally said looking as he looked around the messy shack he shared with his brother. "You promised me we could watch WWF!" Wally picked up an old pizza delivery box and found a torn out piece of the phone book. It read: "Alexandra's Anecdotes" and it was circled in red. Wally hung his head. "Oh dear Wil, come back to me man!"
Scene 6:
It was a sunny day outside as people walked in and out of Alexandra's Anecdote's. A stunning woman with short blond hair was standing behind the counter, assisting customers. She was dressed in a little, pink dress that actually showed more of her nicely shaped body than it covered. She was Alexandra, the owner of the store.
When she was done checking one customer, a man who was browsing approached her. She smiled at him and a cute little dimple appeared on her right cheek.
"Excuse me, but I was wondering if I could take you out for dinner sometime?"
Alexandra laughed. "Me? As if!"
The man walked away disappointed, as Willard walked in and approached the counter.
"And you're looking for what?" Alexandra said looking disgustedly as her eyes scanned Willard.
"Uh...I was looking at your ad in the phone book and well..." Willard stammered.
"Spit it out lover boy, I ain't got all day ya know." She interrupted.
"Uh, I need a love potion." Williard whispered as he leaned towards her over the counter.
"A love potion! Tubular!" Alexandra replied with a big smile.
Willard looked around to see if anyone had heard. He didn't exactly want to advertise to the world that he had trouble attracting women. "Shh...not so loud."
"Okay. You don't have to be so touchy." She replied. "Well, we have plenty of love potions here. What is it exactly that you want to attract?"
"The most beautiful woman in the world." Williard said as he got a dazed look on his face.
"Ex-squeeze me?" Alexandra asked, thinking that was her.
"Twanky! The Goddess of...Love." Williard sighed, his eyes twinkling.
"EEWW! Her?" Alexandra said in disgust. Williard nodded. "Well ok whatever." She had seen Twanky, and wondered why any man would call *her* The Goddess Of Love. "So she doesn't like you or what?"
"I wanted to impress her, win her over." Williard began. "So I bought some false teeth. See I don't have any." He opened his mouth and showed Alexandra. She backed away in disgust. Williard continued his tale. "I thought that would work. But it didn't. The teeth didn't help."
"DUH!" She exclaimed.
"So can you help me?" Williard pleaded.
"Yeah I guess so." She looked behind the counter at some bottles and then selected one and handed it to Williard.
"You are gonna totally dig this!" Alexandra grinned. "Slip some of this into her drink, and she'll be all over you honey."
"Thank you! I've gotta go...gotta go do this right away!" Williard said very excited and started to leave. Then he stopped and turned back, remembering he hadn't paid. "Oh, um...how much do I owe you?"
Alexandra shook her head. "Consider it a gift. You look like you could use one and maybe a shower to?"
"Thank you!" Williard ran out of the store, not even noticing her shower comment.
Alexandra watched him walk out and placed her hands on her hips, flashing a smile. "Am I good or what!?"
Scene 7:
Shannon went to the park and sat on a bench. She put her hands in her face and sobbed. She heard a voice behind her. "Hi, uh, are you ok?"
She looked up and saw Ryan standing there. "Um, I've been better." She said and wiped her eyes.
"I'm really sorry, he shouldn't have hurt you like that." Ryan said and sat next to her.
"Yeah, well it's ok I should be used to it by now." Shannon said seriously wiping her eyes.
" You shouldn't have to get used to something like that." Ryan added reassuringly.
"Thanks." Shannon replied.
"I kinda feel like this was my fault. I mean I shouldn't have introduced you to Lucy." Ryan looked at his hands, feeling bad.
"No, I'm glad I found out. Before things went any further."
Ryan wondered how far it had went but didn't ask.
"And anyways, I should be the one apologizing to you." Shannon looked at him and exclaimed.
"Why?" Ryan inquired. "You didn't do anything to me."
"Yes, yes I did. I was rude to you when we first met. I was just upset about moving here, and--"
"It's ok, I understand." Ryan interrupted.
"No, no it's not ok. You were so sweet to me, and you didn't deserve to have me treat you that way." Shannon looked at him.
"You didn't deserve to have Dean treat you that way." Ryan responded.
"How about we just forget the past and start over?" Shannon smiled.
"Sounds good." Ryan thought for a moment then held out his hand. "Hi, I'm Ryan, nice to meet you." Shannon laughed and was about to take his hand, but their eyes met. Their faces drew closer and they kissed. After a few moments, Ryan was about to pull away and say something, but Shannon pulled him back.
"Oh Ryan..." She continued to kiss him, but with much more passion and intensity.
Ryan pulled back. "Woo, wait let's not move so fast ok?"
"Oh, um...I'm sorry." Shannon said a bit disappointed.
"It's ok. Hey come here." He pulled her into his arms and held her.
Shannon sighed and closed her eyes. She felt so much better in his arms.
Scene 8:
"You know, your Uncle isn't going to be happy that you didn't get him anymore info than 'fifteen pairs of pants, 99 bottles of beer on the wall, and a partridge in a pear tree'." Meighan commented to Joel as they stood in the room outside of Kevin DiMira's study.
"Uh, that's fifteen belts, four ropes and three proposals." Joel corrected, completely missing the sarcasm in her voice.
She turned and gave him a cold look, "Whatever."
"Excuse me, but..." A man sounded from behind them.
"Ah!" Joel screamed, startled by the voice.
" Mr. DiMira will see you now." The man continued. "Please step this way."
"Now you know what you are going to say, right?" Meighan asked as they followed the man into the study, which was empty save for a large desk with a padded chair behind it, a small couch, a coffee table and a chess set.
"Uh, yeah..." Joel timidly peeked in the room and when he saw that his Uncle was not there he straightened up and walked confidently into the room. "I'll say Unc, I know that you wanted me to get you more information, but all that damn ghost of yours said was fifteen belts, four ropes and three proposals. If you don't like it, you can go straight to..."
Suddenly Joel realized that Meighan was tapping him on the shoulder. "What?!" He said as he turned around saw that his Uncle had entered the room and was standing behind him. Joel let out a little scream, "Ah! Uh....hi Unc."
Kevin just stood there frowning. Joel became visibly nervous and tried to speak, "Well, uh...you see, what I meant was that....uh....Please don't kill me Uncle Kevin!" he begged as he fell to his knees and clasped his hands together as if he were praying. "Please, please, please!"
"Get up you imbecile!" Kevin yelled. "I'm not going to kill you...yet."
Joel quickly got to his feet, "Gee, uh...thanks Unc." He looked up at his Uncle who was still frowning at him. "Then can I keep my car too, Unc? I really love that car. I mean it has those windshield wipers for the back window and this really cool..."
"Silence!" He commanded. "Or I'll cut your tongue out."
Joel gasped, let out a squeal and covered his mouth with both of his hands. Kevin slowly walked around him and passed behind the desk. He sat down in his chair, joined his hands together and rested them on his stomach. Kevin stared at Joel but said nothing. He knew that he was making Joel uncomfortable and that was the idea. Joel was an idiot, but he was a useful idiot, as long as he did what he was told. Finally, when he felt he had stuck sufficient fear into Joel's heart, he spoke. "Now, tell me more about these belts and proposals."
