Personality: Eric is a very driven man, dedicated to his craft because of his family (his father, the legendary tag team wrestler and his older brother the former multi-time world champion) and because of this, he does more than just wrestle-he goes out for war. He stands by his friends (which are the Reaver and the members of the Mavericks tag-team of Blade and Storm). He is a very calm and collected man, who tends to snap when pissed. Other than that, he is a very calm and collected person with an attitude much like that of Diamond Dallas Page.
Characteristics: Eric is unlike his brother-not as brash nor loud. Of the “Fearsome Four” (The Reaver, Gibson and the Mavericks), he is the calm one, preferring to let his actions speak for him. He’s very tricky and quick to learn and has often thrown moves on the fly during a match. He comes to the aide of his friends when they need him and he doesn’t back down from a challenge either. In terms of Characteristics-think either Crash Holly or DDP again.
Basic History: Eric is the younger brother of the “Chaos Kat” Paul Gibson and the son of Rock and Roll Express member Robert Gibson. Brought up in a wrestling home, his father didn’t think his younger son had the talent to be a wrestler and refused to teach him. During the mid-80’s the Gibson family moved to Battle Creek MI and that’s where Eric would meet a young man whom he would become best friends with-Marcus Slayton, the future Reaver. Both of them were sons of wrestlers and the young Eric asked Marcus’ father if he could teach him how to wrestle and the elder Slayton agreed. For the next few years, Eric would go to school, hang out with Marcus and learn how to wrestle. After Marcus left to go to Japan to continue his wrestling training, Eric continued his-wrestling in minor indy feds for the next two years until he was recruited to join the ICWA federation out of Washington state in 1996-his first match with the company was as “Surge” and he wrestled in a match against the former enforcer of the “Rogue Horsemen” stable for the spot in the stable, where along with his older brother and Marcus-now known as the Reaver-he stayed, winning the ICWA US Tag titles a total of three times with Grunge as one half of “Generation Hex”. After ICWA closed it’s doors, he went to Japan and signed up with a lot of other wrestlers in Super Japan Pro Wrestling, where he lost his “Surge” persona…for the “Marauder”…. Introduced this time as a member of Terry Chono’s heel stable, the “Coven”, Eric was apart of the “Doom and Disaster” tag-team with the “War Machine” Alex Slayer-they won several tag titles also, but it in a match by the SJPW booking committee-the Reaver dropped the SJPW World Title to Gibson. The following weeks saw Gibson spilt with the Coven and defended the title against a slew of opponents until he dropped the title back to the Reaver on June 9th, 1998 after holding it since December of the previous year. Gibson then went to the newly formed WICW and became a two time US champion there while tagging with Death. Over the next few years, Eric wrestling skills only kept improving-it wasn’t until 1999 was he given a chance to shine truly. In 1999-he signed with SCW (Superior Championship Wrestling) with his friends the Mavericks and Reaver. He was given the former “Cheetah Master” and former student of the Reaver, “Screaming” Chris Morton as his tag team partner-the duo would win titles in other federations but SCW, where Gibson won the SCW Heavyweight title and the US title. Gibson also meet the woman whom would have a lot of impact in his career and life there as well, Gina Lewis. It wasn’t until the infamous “Highway to Hell” match in the FWA for the FWA International title, Gina showed up and cheered her man on-bringing him to victory. Eric later asked Gina to manage the newly revamped team of Gibson and Morton-Judgment Day and she agreed. Six months later in SCW, he surprised not only the fans but also the other wrestlers when he asked her to marry him. The couple then left SCW due to lack of use and floated around in several federations for the next few months until November 15th of 2000, where they were hit by a drunk driver no more than a block away from the Reaver’s home in Battle Creek. Gibson was taken out of wrestling for a few months due to the injury, Gina remains however out of action. Now, The “Marauder” Eric Gibson is heading for EWI, what will happen next is anybodies guess.
