As far back in time as anyone knows, death has been a concern for all the races of the Realms... and why shouldn't it? Everyone dies, sooner or later. Many people study death, and no one studies it more than House Teken'duis of the drow. For millenia since the dawn of the house, they continue their research and learn more and more about "death". This occurred in the very beginning, when Kluenh Teken'duis, First Matron of the house, was trying to learn a way in which she could control death. This led to her forcing her children to the more magical and alchemical goals in her search for non-death. To this day House Teken'duis continues the tradition of learning all about death through whatever means necessary. Now this doesn't mean that House Tek or its followers look like the stereotypical death mob with bones and skulls lying everywhere and everyone eating entrails and suchlike. On the contrary, after so much research they do very little with the body anymore, coming to the conclusion that its only a shell and after death it is no longer important. They dress well, and their house is of an ornate, ancient design. What they do know, and know well, is death itself and the very act of dying. There is no doubt that if, someday, someone figures out a way to totally control death, it will be House Teken'duis.
