As much as possible, I try to avoid playing the typical songs that most bands over play. The last thing an audience needs to hear for the 1000th time again is another bar band playing "Mustang Sally", "You Really Got Me" or "Road House Blues". Certain musicians will respond with "You should play tunes people will recognize, to get gigs." I agree, but does it always have to be the same 30 tunes? There are lots of great songs that most bands don't do. Although the bottom line is you can play whatever you want, as long as you can do it well. Here are some of the cover songs I've played.
