Parsons
on the double
Longford Town had
to rely on a goal seven minutes from time to give them victory over a disappointing
Cobh side in Longford.
Richie Parsons fired
the home side in front after just thirteen minutes, finishing off a good
move which involved Keith O'Connor and Stephen Kelly. Longford, who moved
to top spot in the First Division as a result of this win, were totally
dominant after this early goal but just couldn't put the final finish to
many fine moves.
Cobh took advantage
of Longford's inability to put the game beyond reach and Donal Golden fired
home a superb equaliser with seventeen minutes remaining. However Parsons
popped up to snatch the winning goal just seven minutes from time, smashing
the ball past helpless Cobh 'keeper John Donegan.
