Lightening
strikes twice for 'Farm
Cobh had to fight
to retain their Division 1 leadership as they came from 2-0 down at half-time
to salvage
a point against
Home Farm Fingal at Whitehall. For the hosts, it was certainly a case of
deja vu, as they also fumbled a 2-0 lead last week at home to Limerick.
An excellent goal
from Robbie Farrell, who shot home Richard Foran's cross, gave Home Farm
a deserved 24th minute lead. Mark Patton's mis-hit cross, which looped
in over Cobh goalkeeper John Donegan, added to that three minutes before
the interval.
Farm should have
learned from last week's error to go on and win the game. However, Cobh
battled back into the game and dominated the latter half. Having missed
several chances from play, accuracy from set-pieces ultimately earned Cobh
a point. A penalty, calmly scored by Donal Golden, on 62 minutes got them
back into the game,
before Willie Byrne
drilled home their equaliser from a 20 yard free-kick with just two minutes
from the end.
Lightening had struck
again for Fingal, who now have a miserable tally of two pointsfrom a possible
nine.
