Cobh cruised passed Limerick at Hogan Park
in a game that provided two big talking points. The first came after 20
minutes. Limerick's Ian O'Sullivan went through but was brought down by
Cobh goalkeeper John Donnegan, who was lucky to escape with a yellow card.
Dom Kelly scored from the spot to level proceedings after Ciaran Dalton
had put Cobh in front after seven minutes.
A superb strike by Donal Golden had Cobh
back in front after 35 minutes and five minutes later John Murphy of Cobh
was shown the red card for taking down Derek McCarthy from behind. But
the referee changed his decision after consulting a linesman and instead
awarded a free to the visitors.
Cobh totally dominated the second half
and Kenny O'Rourke made it three after 54 minutes and Pat Keane had the
best goal of the day with a superb effort after 74 minutes.
