WARFARE PRINCIPLES

EPHESIANS 6: 10 - 18

We are in the midst of spiritual growth, as a corporate body, and as individuals.

We are in the midst of spiritual warfare, also on both of these fronts.

There is a certain order to spiritual warfare. You see , with each new spiritual level that you attain, there is a fiercer & more crafty enemy awaiting you. Also, evil spirits will be assigned to you proportionately, according to the threat you pose to the enemy's kingdom.

One person said it like this: " NEW LEVELS, NEW DEVILS."

With that in mind, let's look at some principles of warfare...

1. YOU HOLD THE KEYS.

MATTHEW 16: 17 - 19 REV. 1: 18 REV. 3:7 REV. 20: 1 - 3

Spiritually, we have the key & the chain. When we come up against spiritual forces of evil, we can SEIZE, BIND, & LOCK UP!

2. WITH A FRESH WORD, EXPECT A FRESH FIGHT.

When the Lord gives you a word or a vision, you can expect it to be contested by the enemy.

MATTHEW 3: 16 - 17 4:3 "IF"

3. LEARN GOD THE FATHER'S LANGUAGE.

JOHN 8: 42 - 47

"native language" - do you know how easy it is to speak your native language?

E.G. I learned how to speak Philipino. But not like I do English, my native language.

v. 47 Parts of us have trouble hearing. We need continual inner conversions of the heart. There may be parts of us more tuned in to the lies than the truth.

Another subpoint here: Demons are not only prolific speakers, but their "ears" work just as well. They understand spiritual language & shudder at its' truth.

* When you speak, in the midst of spiritual warfare, you better know, they are listening.

4. THE MASQUERADE IS ONLY A COSTUME;IT'S NOT REALITY

2 CORINTHIANS 11: 13 - 14

E.G. masquerade party, who would you dress as? Zorro, Dracula, Cinderella, ... Imagine really believing that the masquerade was true.

5. BEWARE OF ATTACKS ON YOUR COVERING

2 CORINTHIANS 11: 12 - 15

Satan is doing the same thing today as he was in Corinth and as he was in the Garden of Eden.

v.12 - bringing falsehood onto the same level as truth. It may not always be in the form of actual false teachers, but he will attempt to "dethrone" what is there in your heart & replace it with the counterfeit.

One sign of falsehood approaching: It will seek to undercut your spiritual covering.

6. AFTER YOU FALL, GET BACK UP!

LUKE 22: 31 - 34

Even though you may fall, your faith will not fail if you continually turn back to God.

Notice too, the sequence of events here. What was Satan playing on? Peter's weaknesses. FEAR? COWARDICE? ANXIETY? CONFUSION?

Before he turned back to the Lord, there was a manifestation of evil in his life. And it wasn't confined to his own life either. Consider those around that "fire of denial." Who may have been hurt by his words , by his cursing?

SPIRITUAL WARFARE IS NOT ALWAYS CLEAN-CUT SURGERY. IT GETS MESSY, AND IT CAN AFFECT THOSE AROUND US.

( In war time, a bullet aimed at someone else, just might hit you! )

2 JOHN 7 - 8

Spiritual growth is not an easy commodity to come by. Whatever progress you've made, it has cost you.

Don't lose what you've worked for.

HEBREWS 10: 35 - 39

Whenever I'm tempted to "throw away" my confidence, its because it doesn't "feel like" confidence anymore. But in reality, we exercise the strongest confidence & faith when everything seems wrong.
