Willier History

Just jotting down info I've gathered to-date. From Sister Teresa's write-up, the place 'near Peoria' was Wesley City, Tazewell county, Illinois. Location now encompassed in East Peoria. Family moved to Albia, Monroe county, Iowa abt 1875, for first RR work. Moved to Springfield, Greene county, Missouri in 1887. Willier Construction Co. did work on "roads in the east'. Work in Jamaica and Costa Rica in 1897. Did work for Iron Mountain Railway, the town of 'Crane' and the Ozarks mentioned. The following info is from a reply to an inquiry I made on the web. "This line runs from Kansas City to Carthage/Joplin then Crane, MO (thru Branson) on to Diaz (state hwy 14 thru Ozarks) then to Little Rock. both Arkansas. This particular line was called the 'White River Line' of the Iron Mntn Railway. The KC-Diaz line exists today as a line of the Missouri & Northern Arkansas Railroad. Serves the 'Country Music Capital', Branson. Crane was an important junction of the railroad with the branchline to Springfield and the Frisco railroads. (now the Burlngton Northern-Santa Fe RR)" Informant looking into how to find info on Willier Constr Co.
