Phil Sr's Iowa Boyhood Home

The farm home in Georgetown where Phil Sr. was reared by Aunt Mary Ann. It had been used in modern times, but it is in bad shape now. We had to be very cautious when stepping on the porch to see if the door was locked (it was).

There was no sign of them now but at the time we visited and stayed here in the 1930's, they had large barrels positioned under the down spouts to collect rain water.

A story Mother told was that I got a new outfit to go on our Iowa trip. Seems I didn't much care for my new hat. When we had finished our stay and were packing to go home the hat was nowhere to be found.

It wasn't until sometime later, when the water in the barrels was used up did the hat re-appear
