Blue Flag Criteria

BATHING WATER QUALITY CRITERIA


OF THE BLUE FLAG CAMPAIGN


Water Quality in respect of three parameters:
(i) Total Coliform
(ii) Faecal Coliform
(iii)Faecal Streptococci
is required to be tested from samples taken on a fortnightly basis during the bathing season
i.e. from Mid-May to end of August

Compliance with the Blue Flag Criteria in respect of each Parameter

Unit of Measurement of sample taken = 100 ml.

Total Coliform Standard: The result is required to be less than 500
Required level of compliance = 80% of samples taken must comply with this standard.

Faecal Coliform Standard: The result is required to be less than 100
Required level of compliance = 80% of samples taken must comply with this standard.

Faecal Streptococci Standard: The result is required to be less than 100
Required level of compliance = 90% of samples taken must comply with this standard.
