A tradition which began in 1959, when Phyabharataraja, Principal of the Vajiravudh College, visited NJ Ryan, the Malay College principal, and invited him with this words, "Let us play rugby together, so that our boys would have the chance to learn about one another's tradition and culture, by playing host on alternate years."
The Malay College Kuala Kangsar, and Vajiravudh College, Bangkok are two of the premier educational institutions in South East Asia, having produced many leaders in their respective countries. And since 1960, both the colleges have held a traditional rugby match, with the exception of 1970-1971, when the match wasn't held due to certain factors.
In the 38 matches held up to 1999, the record stands, MCKK won twice, while VC won 36. The College won for the second time this year, after a wait that lasted 36 years. The MCID would like to honour the victorious ruggers, and our friends from Thailand with this section.
